I'd be really grateful if you could please give me some advice.

I am a British man who has never took a driving test or held a driving licence. Is it possible for me to take a test in Bangkok and get a Thai driving licence?

It was started ages ago, but it's still relevant because it's constantly updated.

First you get a 1 year licence and then, when that concludes, a 5 year licence.

Bangkok is a big place ... about where are you?

What Visa do you currently hold?

Thats an interesting Question. First thing is you need a car , with a Current 5 Year licensed Person to teach you. Rare position your in.
