Pheu Thai red-shirt politicians are worried that a candidate from the Shinawatra family, which has come under heavy criticism in the ongoing political crisis, would give the party's political enemies an edge, the sources said.

This is very important. PTP do represent agrarian workers and factory workers, who make up the majority of the voting populace. Also, more importantly, PTP are in a position of moral authority, in the sense that they are representing an impoverished and long-suffering underclass. So technically PTP are holding a winning hand, numerically and philosophically.

But of course, Thaksin is a supernational elitist CG club member, who doesn't care about agrarian workers or factory workers or equality. Thaksin can only remind me (at Christmas) of Jacob Marley, the ghost who visited Scrooge, and wore chains that he himself forged in life, chains of greed and cruelty.

But the idea of Thailand having an agrarian / factoryworkers party, with party leaders who actually worked in the fields and factories themselves in earlier years, can only be extremely good for Thailand.

If PTP can morph from the Shinawatra / ghost of Jacob Marley nightmare that wakes us up every night with its rattling chains, into a genuine agrarian / factoryworker party, they will absolutely destroy the Dems, and start making some more level headed decisions on infrastructure priorities and national wellbeing.

Yes they have just registred for an election! But if they had listened a little to the sentiment amongst some of the Thais, it is very arrogant to put familymembers at #1, #2 and #4. That Yingluck tops the list is OK, as she clearly is their candidate for the PM-post, but if they were a little smart (dare I say humble?), they should have placed familymembers at lower numbers, not to rub it in the face of their opponents.

Yes the problem with the "PTP talks about removing Shinawatra name from list" article, is essentially that most people including myself believe that Thaksin and his backers will simply continue to govern PTP from a distance, and probably from inside a hollowed out volcano like a mad Bond Villain.

Suthep's "assembly" idea is autocratic, it is communist, it is "we are all equal but you need some pre-selected leaders to rule over all the equal people." Communism was always about elite rule, its very basic existence hinges on there being unelected leaders who rule over everyone else. Neo-communism, velvetglove autocracy is very 21st century, it slips in through the radar easily like a stealth philosophy.

The only solution to human government (imho) is Parliamentary Democracy, with the eternal grindmill of Debate, shirtsleeves rolled up, sawdust and philosphical blood flying allover. That is how you iron out differences, and reach conclusions. Debate is what democracy was founded on, nothing else. Suthep's autocratic system promises the death of debate, by the pre-selection and templating of who is allowed to have a voice. The whole point of democracy is that your voice should be heard, the more stupid your voice is the more it should be heard in public, for the public good! Because then people will discount your policy proposal outright. Imho thats why Yingluck avoided debates. Her policies had a better survival chance if she went to Lapland for a few months instead.

It seems the popularity pole a few days ago was reflecting the true (yet better hidden facts) that YL and the Shins are losing popularity at an alarming rate.

Strange how she hasn't bothered her arse to go up country for the past 2 years to inspect these government projects, yet as soon as it gets hot in Bangkok she scuttles up there, which strangely coincides with the launch of the election campaign.

A sharp lesson in how to campaign with public money.... Pity it seems to be coming to nothing.

When you pull in crowds even 10% of what Suthep can, then I will agree you still have popularity, but a few hundred here and there just aint cutting it.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has filed a lawsuit against those being indicted former Interior Minister Pokin Palakul, are former Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin, former Deputy Interior Minister Pracha Maleenont, former Deputy Commerce Minister Wattana Muangsuk, former Director of the Bangkok Fire and Rescue Department Police Major General Atilak Tanchukiat and Austrian firm Steyr-Daimler-Puch.

The defendants are alleged of malfeasance and corruption as well as signing false documents in their acquirement of fire trucks and boats from the Austrian company while they were in office in 2004.

Previously, I have written to inquire the Minister of Justice, Pol Gen Pracha Promnok regarding progress in the investigation of Mr. Somchai's case. Then, he gave me a one pager summary prepared by DSI indicating that there has been no progress as to the investigation in order to bring the perpetrators to justice. This happens so despite that the case has been handled by DSI for eight years.

I keep reading "reform before election" but nobody has explained what exactly that means.

Is the actual reform "no more cartoon politicians" or "no politicians except Democrats" or how exactly will that be defined? How will the line be drawn between "good" and "evil" and under what criteria?
