is selling copy/fake products in thailand illegal ?

Recommended Posts

bearing in mind that most of tuk com centre sell copy iphones etc and that most of the market traders are selling copy t-shirts , football shirts etc. my guess is that the cops dont bother them much.

though is it illegal to open a shop selling copy brand handbags, shoes and the likes ? being a farang might draw some attention i imagine. i was just looking online at chinese whole salers and it gave me an idea.

have any of you guys any expirience on sourcing items from china / india and selling in thailand ?

your thoughts.

thankyou

The so-called copies at Tuk-Com are sold as such and have a small indication that they are not the real thing.

eg Samsung label is spelled differently and Nokias come in a box labelled with the manufacturer's name, the idea being that the copies are not being sold off as o-rigi-nals. Whether this passes muster re intellectual property rights may be dubious, but the show goes on.
