tolsti
A couple of friends are over at the moment and want to get a train from Surat Thani down to Malaysia. Can anyone recommend an agent where they can book/purchase tickets here on Phuket. Patong if at all possible. thanks
NamKangMan
You could try the below website. I've never booked through them, but I was aware they existed. http://www.thailandtrainticket.com/
tolsti
thanks NamKangMan,.... unfortunately they are closed until 2/1/2014
NamKangMan
thanks NamKangMan,.... unfortunately they are closed until 2/1/2014 I did notice that, but just assumed your friends would be staying on Phuket for New Years Eve. If they are not selling tickets, maybe the trains do not run as often over the next few days. Where are they going in Malaysia? What about a boat? http://www.tigerlinetravel.com/
iSabai
More info here: http://www.railway.co.th/home/default.aspx?ID=〈=EN# Thought I saw something about advanced tickets there as well.
madmitch
thanks NamKangMan,.... unfortunately they are closed until 2/1/2014 This implies they have staff handling these bookings manually. Can you imagine an airline site closing for the holidays? Welcome to 21st Century Thailand.
4evermaat
That other company is a 3rd party that either buys ticket for you and remail it or has a link/printer to book the tickets....and mail them. A better akternative imo is to buy online directly from thailand railway http://www.railway.co.th/NewSite/ .it's an extra 20-40 baht above what you would pay in the station. You pick your seats the same way.
IrishIvan
Book at least a week in advanced the train is always packed. Go first class too. It ain't too much difference from memory
