yes: there are certainly palces that rent beds for 100 bt/N, and rooms from 200- no AC, bathroom on corridor, inside looks like prison cells: only bed and fan

Don an orange shirt and get down to Democracy monument , don't take photos and smile a lot - enjoy the free food and dance away to the free music on offer . You could even get one of the foam hands and whistles that seem to be provided. You will be able to sleep on the street for free and probably be safe as houses but booze is banned so do your drinking away from the protest site suggest Khao San Road.
