They were welcomed by family and friends from their hometown Aabybro, who had arranged a limousine to pick them up, told Danish Broadcast DR.Mother and daughter were deported from Denmark last year after Im’s step dad and Suthida’s husband died from cancer in 2012. The Danish Immigrant service decided, that their connection to Thailand was bigger than their connection to Denmark, and therefore they had to leave the country on November 10. At that time they had lived in Denmark for four years.Im and Suthida Nielsen’s story went out in the medias nationwide and created a public demand to let them in again. They do not meet the requirements of the legislation said. Not the wife and the daughter's fault that he died . A shame for them that they did not get to meet the requirements when the man died. Because they have lived here for a few years, doesn´t make them Danes. Can´t see what connection they have to Denmark. The dead man not even adopted the little girl. Again , there is legislation . Fair or not is debatable. Legislation must surely be followed. But we have a spineless government that due to pressure from a support group, as well as the press, the resilience and choose to make a special law. Home is being said / written. Where is home? What citizenship do they have? Tourist visas they come to Denmark on. If it is as it says, that it is a tourist visa, then something illegal is going on. Can´t own / rent an apartment, a daughter go to school, get social security, free medical and hospital , later perhaps work etc. on a tourist visa . Well , these two do it. Now everybody that comes to Denmark on a tourist visa will be thinking, hat all who come to Denmark on a tourist visa believe that they can do this too. Well the same for everyone. Yes, Denmark has strict requirements concerning foreigners. This Is necessary. because too much junk comes into Denmark and the first thing they turn to, is the cash register where money is paid. Denmark has been too nice in the past. 10 years ago the strict Laws was made. I was to easy in the past. This strict Laws doesn´t make Denmark bad. Try to look at many other countries and see. Apart from "jes" being so unwilling to share whatever it is he (I presume IT is a he) seems to think is being stolen from him: I very much doubt that they stayed for 4 years on a tourist-visa: they might have arrived on one, but their status was surely changed when she was married in the Queendom of Denmark. The kid has lived half her life in Denmark. She only speaks Danish and Denmark is the world she knows. And in cases like this, where interests of State, adults and children do not co-incide the childrens rights are to trumph all other interests. Some nerd out there might help me find the right UN-declaration and wording? This has been an on-going discussion for years, including in my home country Norway where the police are apt to break into an asylum-seeking families home at night and evict and return children who have no other language than Norwegian to some foreign country. Denmark and Norway enforce their (possibly internationally illegal) laws quite heavy-handedly. And strangely enough: the police-corpse is never seen objecting to such inhumane treatment. One maybe 12-13 yrs old girl (lived in Norway for close to 10 years) put it this way on TV in a fluent west-coast dialect: "I like Norway, but Norway does not like me!" She is back in the home country of one or both of her parents, and doesn't speak a word of the language nor the culture. If you adopt a person through marriage or legal framework, the responsibility for them lies with you. They also gain the rights that you had in your country as they are now a citizen and if you die, they should not be penalized. After all, you would only want what is best after you die for those you love and not want a bunch of right wing racist fascist and xenophobes taking away those rights. jes Posted January 6, 2014 Share Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) I don´t need help. In order to qualify for permanent residency they must have lived in Denmark for at least 5 years. None of them have stayed in Denmark for 5 years. The authorities can revoke the residence permit if the conditions to which the permission was given to, change. "If you have received a residence permit on the basis of a marriage, and your marriage ends". They entre Denmark on a tourist visa now. They can´t get a permanent residence visa before the law is changed. And so far this law hasn´t been changed. If you aget divorced or partner dies and then get married again (or part of a new partnership / cohabitation), the calculation of 5 years start from the beginning. I think you are absolutely right. I am from the Netherlands, where we also had quite a few of these "sorry cases". Kudel Posted January 6, 2014 Share Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) A few years ago people in the west where introduced to something called positive discrimination wich basicly means if for instance a native from a certain country would get in to financial problems because of job loss or something like that and wanted to claim benefits or some other kind of financial help from the government he would be more scrutinezed after paying taxing his hole working carreer than for instance a refugee fresh of the boat from Africa. This of course has backfired on leftwing governments and political partys by losing all their votes to rightwing partys because voters are fed up by this thus stricter immigration laws are put in place to keep their voters.And thats why you get incidents like this with the Thai mother and her daughter in Denmark. I was in Denmark in November and it is a nice country .And dont forget how many TV members have said they came to Thailand because they where fed up with all the bloody foreigners and immigration laws in their home country.
