Maybe someone can answer my simple question -

Currently I am on a 1y extension and report every 90 days my residence.

Leaving for an overseas trip (multiple re-entry permit)

I understand my visa will be maintained with that re-entry permit - but what's about the "90d report cycle" Does it count again from my "new" entry date?

Yes. You will have to report 90 days from your new entry date. Also when you fill in your TM6 card you put the data from the re-entry stamp/date rather than your old visa.
