Gas stations closed to prevent fueling violence
By Coconuts Bangkok

Want to feed a fire? There’s nothing like good old-fashioned gasoline.

BANGKOK: -- Bangchak Pretoleum is handling 'Bangkok Shutdown' by closing five gas stations in the protest area to prevent the crowd from using petrol to fuel the violence.

The company has chained the fuel dispensers and cut the electricity in gas stations near the protest spots for safety issues, a Bangchak Petroleum executive said today.

Ahh think the fuel is in the other hand just now or has one not seemed to notice? I can't see red can't see red see red as the song goes. Seeing a bit of yellow though and let's join the land of today not the past.

What a stupid post.

Since these protests started 12 weeks ago the has not been a single incident involving anti-gov protesters burning down BKK apart from a bus which was set fire to probably by red shirt protesters when the RU students clashed with red shirts on Dec 2nd, and that happened to be a bus that was videoed in very suspicious circumstances, and in a position where only red shirts would have been safe being in.

If the protesters want to burn down BKK there are plenty of places to get petrol from such as motorcycle tanks and they can do it with cardboard or paper, no need for petrol. The reason you see nothing burning is that these people have a legitimate mission and that does not include the same thing as the brainless and moronic red thugs.

Strange that.

Close the liquor shops as well then. A bottle of scotch will make a fine molotov cocktail. And not forget to block fertiliser sales...

Perhaps best block traffic so shooters can not go around?

Posted

Where is the "Each bring a bottle I have enough petrol, we will turn BKK into a sheet of flame" man ?

That's right he is starting a new airline so we should be safe this time.

That is unless his fellow red stage ranters take up his call.

I think showing such caution is always commendable.

One big problem is that there are real third parties that can take advantage of the tension for personal gain. Burning down my own shop and blaming either side is a quick check from many insurance companies. That guy that knocked up my cousin and left her holding the baby might just get caught by a stray bullet. Worse, both sides have militant wings, all of whom can satisfy several agendas simultaneoulsy by taking rash action.

There are millions of plausible scenarios like this -- it is just too easy to capitalize on a situation like this.

You're wrong about the bus. It was torched the afternoon after the night of the RU clash, when most reds had already gone home. Local residents cheered as it was lit up. Don't know who did it, but they weren't people that came with the red shirts. And during the morning before some other NSPTR/RU student types were photographed trashing some red shirt vans. Not sure if it was the same group that torched the bus. There were also several police vans set alight during the clashes that raged into the night between NSPTR and police at government house.

Agree about the petrol though. As if there aren't easily available sources of it other than petrol stations. Just ridiculous.

the bus was torched by people that went there specifically to loot, one of them was caught in the fire and died, had nothing to do with the protesters

On a more rational note, while an advisable strategy, I'd be worried about the small cendors of 1l bottles of fuel that the motorbikes purchase. They always have a few of them in the back alley. This is certainly going to inconvenience the locals,

Yeah it's a good precaution. The remnants of the red animals from 2010 may decide to try to burn a few more buildings down. But this time, they will try to blame it on the anti Shinawatra protestors.

You must have only enough self-awareness to fit into a very small thimble, TVGerry. This is not ASTV. It is a forum where balanced individuals see your infantile attempts at rhetoric for what they are. Each time you put finger to keyboard, the spittle must fly all over the computer screen.

Please, please, at least try to show a glimmer of reason, understanding and - dare I say it impartiality in your posts. It would be a coronary-inducing surprise to find you recognise that the protesters may not all be peaceful. Unless, of course, you believe (wouldn't surprise me in the least) that the bus burnt in Ramkhaemhang was by reds and the taxi driver beaten unconscious was attacked by undercover Thaksinites.

In another thread you said 'wrong is wrong'. Abide by your own words and let's have a little more balance in your posts, please.

The only people who've asked their followers to burn this city down are red shirt leaders. And the only people who've tried to burn down this city are the red shirts. There's precedent there.

The only people who have occupied an airport are the yellow shirts. And the only people now threatening to shut down the Thai Air Traffic Control are the yellow shirts. Can you comment on this (given it will risk hundreds of lives) vis-a-vis your 'wrong is wrong' statement, please?

I am challenging you to make the tiniest criticism of the protesters. I wonder if it is even remotely possible for you to do so...

Yes they took an airport. So what? Any damage? Any building destroyed? Any planes go down? I'm not saying doing that was the right but between someone holding an airport and someone burning a few buildings down, I think the former is the lesser of two evils, don't you think?

Maybe. That's also what I thought was most likely at the time.

I think youll find they looted the entire airport and caused billions of baht worth damage in renovations, lost trade and exports. Plus it instigated a coup and for the record some of the burnt buildings were also suspect insurance jobs. Given the choice of a few shopping malls damaged or a shutdown airport being more serious id say a burnt mall and a few other buildings dosnt affect the whole country like a shutdown airport.

Lets not forget the airport shutdown protests also set the scene and precedence for how people get things done here, just look at them again this time demanding what they want again. Bunch of spoilt kids imo

Of course you would see the burning down of a few buildings as nothing compared to a shutdown airport. rolleyes.gif

Can't pin the bus on the reds. They caught the kids who did it when they investigated the dead body in the bathroom. It was stupid kids who thought it would be fun to vandalise some crap under cover of what was going on there. They were not on either side. I don't like the reds either but the trruth must be upheld.

As for everything else you posted, RIGHT ON !

Stupid post? Hmm I dont find anything stupid about it... I was actually there when the Anti-Government students set fire to the bus and captured it on my I phone. The reds left the area at between 10.00-11.30 in the morning. If you would like the footage that I actually sent... Please message me and I will send it to you. The students did not seem to have a mission in doing what they did except create carnage. forget the speculation, lets get with the real world today, not 3 years ago and actually look at what the anti-government protestors are doing and how they are affecting the rest of Thailands population, whether they be red or yellow. The major reason why I have not sent this video to you-tube or downloaded it here is because as a law abiding citizen I passed it on to the Police. The Red shirts in Soi 24 and Ramkamhaeng road were by no means safe as this is where 3 of them were killed. Just so you know, I got this footage as I live in an adjacent soi and my wife was the person who filmed it. This is Factual!!! get the picture... Oh and I have the film of the red shorts leaving with the time and date stamp on video as well. So before your next post, maybe you should think or mull things over in your mind a little. Maybe some cant. Oh and I wouldnt post this unless I couldnt back it up poisonus...

Strange that ! People are people, no matter creed or colour I appall violence in all it's shapes and forms. Anybody got some coffee? I know I have...cheesy.gifcoffee1.gif

As previously stated it was not protestors who set fire to the bus, it was stupid kids out for some 'fun'. They have been caught and interviewed by the police and it was reported in some detail by many news outlets. Can you stop blaming things on protestors that have been proven NOT to have been done by them ?
