I'm coming in overland from Cambo to take an intl flight so want to stay near the Bkk airport. Is there a bus that goes from Aranyaprathet to Suvarnabhumi? Or does the train go near there?

I can't find any info on the net that isn't a few years old and almost all of it is about Airport to Aranyaprathet, not vice versa.

Thanks for any info.

Buses travel from Aranyaprathet to Bkk, northern (Mo Chit) bus terminal. Then it should be easy to jump on a train to airport. I've only caught a bus going to Cambodia, but it was a pleasant and economical trip.

Relatively easy. You'll have to take a scooter taxi to the skytrain, and then change to get the train to the airport. You're not saving much money by doing this, and with the current protests, I've read the skytrains are packed. Might be better to just get a taxi. Not that much more money in the end and much easier. Door to door service.

There is a direct bus from Aranyaprathet (Rongkluea Market, close to the border) to Suvarnabhumi. It only goes once a day as far as I know, at around 2pm but you should try to check this.

If the timing is no good, there is no need to go all the way into Bangkok. Get a bus to Chachoengsao and then a bus from there to the airport. There are also trains and buses from Chachoengsao to Lat Krabang and that's where most of the chaeper airport accommodation is found.

Finally, the train goes from Aranyaprathet to Lat Krabang at 13:55 (in theory) so that is another option.

Much better to avoid Bangkok traffic.

This bus is CANCELLED since 1/12/13.(note @ Swampy).

MOST Aran-Mochit BUSes stop at DMK-if so asked (in normal times-Vipavadee appears to be blocked now, DK for how far/how long)-and then catch the free Shutlebus. Train is only for the green church and utmost masochist. But it stops at Lad Krabang-1 stop out on ARL into Swampy, about 1 hr before BKK proper.

Again for normal times; the VANs at border end at Vict Mon-just 1 stop on BTS or a 8 min walk to Phyathai/ARL.

The first train leaves Aran at 6,40 AM and will be around 1130 at a station rather close to the airport. You can either switch to the airport train or - faster - take a cab that would be less than 100 baht, the train is 48 bath.it is a scenic and reliable service and one of the trips I really like in Thailand.

A bus from Aran to Ekkamai bus station might be a better choice than the Morchit one.

Thanks for the replies. I made a reservation at a hotel near the airport. The manager said there were many buses leaving from the border in Aranyaprathet that go to Bang Na. He said take one of those and told me where to get off the bus to be near the hotel.

I imagine they're dangerous minibuses but what can I do?

HMMM.

You need to be sure that you get to the Aran bus station before 6 PM otherwise you're pretty much stuck as far as buses are concerned.

You can hop on BKK -Morchit buses and switch buses at Kabinburi for Chaosenchao (spelling?) unless you catch a direct bus to Ekkamai. I never took this bus if it exists. I saw their bus at Ekkamai bus station but then there was talk that the bus would meet with the one from Morchit at Kabinburi and passengers are transfered to the one from Morchit. So Kabinburi is probably your best chance.

Your plans also depend a bit on timing. Poipet can produce long queues at Thai immigration. Hours. I came last time with a 10 AM bus from PP which got me around 5.30 PM to Poipet. NOBODY in line. Just walked through. I had to spend the night in Aran but that was fine and I took the morning train.

I am definitely no friend of Vans as even if they are doing ok other drivers might not.

From what I gather from your posts you will probably need to take the 6 AM bus from PP. They drop you off at their own stations in PoiPet and it is a dollar on motorbike to the border checkpoint.
