I had to book a hotel in Bangers for Tuesday night, airport area.

Just look at the discounts on agoda. Substantial, a hotel with a good rating next to the capitols international airport for 14 quid a night including transfers . . .

Dream on. The hotels in BKK are only half full yet we are in the middle of the high season. The government declared a state of emergency beginning today and Surapong Techaruvichit thinks tourism will increase this year? Look what happened in 2010 to tourism after the demonstrations and Suvrnabphumi airport was closed. Don't think that was a remarkable year for tourism in Thailand.

So, the THA comes out with this gem of wisdom at the same time that the TAT have actually admitted that tourist numbers may drop.

Is there no communication at all between the various tourist entities in this country.

It makes them all look stupid. Actually that's probably not far from the truth.

Tourism Ministers Dream grows by 10%

The whole place is in a collapse but here we have a chap who seems to think that every thing is bustling with happiness over the last few months. Firstly he didnt read the news on the emergency. Secondly he doesnt use any of the roads where the protests are going on, thridly the hotels havent told him that they have massive cancelations over the last month. So, putting all this together we need to take him aside and brief him on teh reality of todays situation when he claims that the toursim will gro by 10% during massive protests.

TAT needs to work on thier PR and to get a reputation for being honest rather than speaking BS every time they open their mouths :(
