bobl
Formerly a subsea engineer with FSSL (Ferranti), working the North Sea. Got out many (18) years ago to go self employed. Things didn't turn out so well with my last venture in Africa so I find myself needing to re-group, as it were. Worth going back to my roots and trying to get an O&G job in Thailand, or I've been out of it for too long?
diggerdo
I would say it depends on which side of 50 you are, the industry and subsea has moved on a lot in the last 18 years so you would want to be looking for a trainees position, however I do know all the contractors are looking for sub seas , just google the new builds in Korea, that's where I'd start looking. Thailand specifically, I would say very slight chance, you could check with the likes of Technip/ CUEL/ Worley but wouldn't hold your breath one on these, nationalisation is name of game in Thailand these days your best bet in addition to Korea as suggested, either Aussie ie likes of Gorgon or Wheatstone or the middle East If you had posted a couple of years ago LOL....might have been able to do something for you Thailand side but that door has long closed Only other suggestion send your CV to the local agencies who specialise in O&G placements in the region, there are 2 or 3 in BKK, you might strike lucky
liddelljohn
Go to the UK agencies and tell them you want work anywhere , they will get you out soon enough , a couple of months in a new project and it will all come back to you and the new stuff is just as unreliable and screwed up as the old stuff , wont take long to get up to speed
