webfact
Thailand to host Motocross GPThe NationThe FIM Motocross Grand Prix roars back into the Kingdom this year.BANGKOK: -- Following the success of last year's inaugural round at Sri Racha, Chon Buri, the high-flying, hardcore FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) circus will return to thrill tens of thousands of local spectators as well as a massive global TV audience. It will also be throwing a very bright spotlight on the host country, showcasing Thailand's ability to organise and host major international events, blending in its unique cultural charm and sense of fun.Hosting a world championship motorsport event places big demands on host countries and organisers. Developing a challenging and spectacular course while meeting FIM safety requirements is just the start. The location of the track needs to be within a two-hour transfer time of an international airport and the local infrastructure needs to boast good roads and plenty of international-quality hotel accommodation.Thailand, with its highly developed tourist industry, has comfortably met infrastructure requirements. With Chon Buri, home to Thailand's fastest-growing commercial and tourist centres, locating the track less than 100 kilometres from Suvarnabhumi Airport, convenience, comfort and good times await international visitors. The Federation of Motorsport Club of Thailand (FMSCT) has more than three decades of experience in motocross, during which time it has developed a thriving national championship and many courses all over the Kingdom.Local motocross events commonly attract 5,000 to 10,000 spectators, so the sport already has a large following in Thailand.-- The Nation 2014-01-25

Lupatria
Yeah, and the football world championship moves to Syria while the Nobel peace price is givin to Yingluck in Pyongyang. I guess the hub of ungovernable nations will not host any international event in the near future. Looks like many "reporters" here are cut off of any news these days. nigelnigel
This will be held where? when? What kind of story is this? I think last year it was held in Chonburi? I wonder if any of the racers will make it to the race after spending time in Pattaya... The moto GP is riddled with controversy anyway...The organiser is reportedly taking all the money from the racers so we'll see who shows up. PAWNEESE
I saw a poster a few weeks ago somewhere. It is actually on for 3 days. 7th 8th 9th March with tickets more expensive on the 9th .. a Sunday. So obviously the big race day. It does not say anywhere on the net what the format is but I guess 2 days of practise or qualifiers first. Not clear at all. Even their website does not say what happens what day .. only gives entrance prices with 3 day entry ticket or daily. 1st 2 days might be best if you little interested but dont want big crowds. I guess all will be clearer closer to the time. Web site says events start at 9 am Fri/Sun and 8 on Sunday which is confusing time. I will need to get expensive taxis or creep round a friend who has a car .... so gonna sulk and not go if info does not get clearer closer to the time :D:D:o:o:o:angry: Location as stated by someone ... Pin Thong 3 Industrial Estate, Sri Racha, Chonburi.
