This has been posted elsewhere, but I thought it cant harm to spread the word. I guess the more people that know about these sorts of organisations the better, please pass it on folks....

How much of the donated money actually ends up where it's supposed to end up? Even the big charities, most of the money goes on administration and a fraction actually hits the people.

Using this logic, even some is better than none!

That's why I suggest to anyone willing to donate that they should buy books, stationary and clothes to donate to children.

That is how we operate at GOMS. Normally we never give money, just buy needed goods. Recently we did pay cash but direct to teachers for their salary (note it is a private organization funded soley by donations).
