A Good Dentist In Bkk? ( Bangkok-pattaya Just Blew It)

I suppose it was bound to happen. I checked out all the Pattaya dentists as recommended in this forum, and none of them looked too great, except the Bangkok Pattaya. Well as I need some pretty major dental work, I decided money was no object and opted for the "best". I should add that it was suggested that I might want to go for a local anaesthetic if I was a coward (which I am), but I finally decided to brave it out with injections.

My first session was due this afternoon at 3.30 pm. I presented myself at 3.20, handed over the appointment slip and was asked to sit down and "wait a moment please". I didn't feel too bad, but as the minutes ticked by, I started to get more and more nervous. By 4.30 pm I was still waiting and was a quivering wreck. I asked the girl to explain the delay. She said "who are you?" I told her - she checked her pile of appontment slips and found mine at the bottom of the pile. "Oh I'm sorry sir, no one told me you were here, the doctor is with another patient now". " You mean the one that was due after me?" "Yes"

I went downstairs to complain at the customer service desk. The girl gave me a form to fill in. "I don't want a form, I want to speak to someone." She said:"No one to talk to, just put your suggestions on the form."

SUGGESTIONS!!!

Now I'm talking about at least 60K of dental treatment, plus all my ongoing medical fees for diabetes, heart disease, glaucoma, and God knows what else.

Maybe they don't need my business - anyway they've sure lost it.

I can't find it, but someone recommended a good dental hospital in BKK recently. If not I might as well do everything in Bumrungrad - I doubt it's any more expensive, and I'm sure they have better, more experienced doctors there. And I can enjoy a day out in the big Mango. :o

Not much help with major work I'm afraid, but have a tale of general dentistry which may be of help to this threads casual readers. My father on a recent trip lost a tooth off a plate. He popped in to the Dentist located right outside of the Dusit's main gates ( sorry in HK at present and can not remember the name , but it is easy to find ). No waiting, friendly efficent service, and a tempory plate that in fact lasted him a year and when replaced in the UK received nothing but praise on the quality of the work from a senior UK tooth mechanic. Top it all, reasonable price.

The Dental Hospital in Soi 49 off Sukhunvit in BKK is plush, efficient and has a good reputation; the Bumurngrad of the dental world!

I have a similar fear of dentists and my girlfriend eventually dragged me to the dental clinic opposite TOT on Pattaya Klang with the promise of a gentle dentist. And it was true! Dr. Bongkotrat (or name close to that) was excellent; very gentle and did an excellent job giving me a crown. She plays music while she works and sings along which is somehow very comforting, if she is relaxed and singing, why should I feel nervous (other than the fact she is sticking a variety of implements into my mouth).

The clinic is busy however, so get an early appointment to ensure you are first in the queue.

Although I haven't used this dentist myself, because I live in Minburi and use one closer to home, several friends have, one doing quite extensive capping etc. and all highly recommend her.

You might want to check them out before you make a decision:

Have been to several in Pattaya and Bkk but have been most impressed with the one on Pattaya-Naklua rd......I am an absolute coward and as of yet have felt not a smidgoen of pain.

Perhaps the best report has come from my 8 year old daughter who has had 4 teeth removed over the last couple of years, she looks forward to going there.

.......oh and once i have an appointment i haven't waited more than 2 or 3 mins.

their phone no is........038225581

Hi Mobi,

Happy Smile Dental Polyclinic

M Floor, Maneeya Center Building

518/5 Ploenchit Road,

Patumwan,

It is a couple of hundred meters down from Central, on the opposit side of Ploenchit.

I had a lot of dental treatment done there...root canals....bridges ...the works. It took 2 years....completed 5 years ago. Cost me over 200K (Baht). Have been trouble free since. Every 3 months I go for a clean....900 baht. My dentist was Dr.Suraporn......not sure if he is still there now though. Not cheap.....but quality work imho.

Hope this is of help.........Offroad

The Bangkok-Pattaya was always a customer repelling rip-off joint in my books. Try the Pattaya International instead. Khun Aree sings you a song while drilling.
