The majority of TV members have a university educated gf or wife, so I don't think the avoid farang relationships. coffee1.gif

I have never come across any Farangs with a university educated wife in my eight years of living here. Mrs Possum was in full time education till she was 22 years old, that's the nearest I've seen. If my experience of Farangs is anything to go by, I would say most TV members are married to ex bargirls, and I'll tell you what, every single one of them that I know are much better people and are more hospitable than any girl I have known in the UK.

I would say, and this is only an opinion, ex bargirls are more likely to make better wives than university girls.

Never came across any farangs married to University educated Thai? Miust not get out much, if you pay for dinner I'll meet with you and my wife and have her bring her diploma along, also her sister is a chemical engineer and I have a friend coming in May whose wife is also University grad and lives and works with him in USA. There is an expat group in Bangkok ( I would give name but don't want to be warned again for promoting or advertising a place) that most of all of the expats are college grads and their Thai wives are as well.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I get out almost every day and mix with the Thai people!

Bars, pubs, and discos went the by way 20 some years ago!

Diplomas are only a piece of paper and easily forged so no thank you on the dinner invite

as it would prove nothing!

( Look at the US president, possibly a forged birth certificate and social security card! )

I know one Thai lady who could not get a US visa so she had her name changed

along with work history and everything else.

She went again to US embassy and 'bingo', she got her visa!

Agreed that most members here are married to Ex-bar girls. How can that make them to "better" people, better wives......?

"you can get a girl out of a bar, but you won't get the bar out of the girl." I know so many foreigners' wives who lose this guys money in gambling. And if they wanna have fun with another (Thai ) guy, they won't tell their husbands.

They got paid my days, weeks, or months when they were prostitutes, now when married , some even found the jackpot. Doing nothing than gambling ,gossiping and shopping.

If you are in your twenties, handsome and can foot the nill for clubbing, restaurants, etc you have a shot. Bear in mind Thai women's mindset is about 16 in western years. You won't be getting a lot of sex and if she really, really likes you thete would be expectation of marriage. Decent women here don't go thru three dozen men before they marry.

Best woman to focus on is someone fifteen years younger up to as many years as you can deal with. Best pickings for wife is a woman with kids (if that is what you are after), but that aside a woman that enjoys travelling and is in her thirties. From a poor to working class station in life (many can't marry because the men do not want her families burden). There is a ton of women out there.

You have to be the right person. Being bald is not a plus, but bring fat, even paunchy, forget it. Next, you need a game. You need to be cool and have cool hobbies. Hobbies, activities are the best way to meet people. Young Thai's love to get outdoors, they are not very good at it, but they enjoy camping. They love taking a trip to an island.

Learn Thai. You will never get a uni girl without the language unless you are paying for it. Not if you are 50.

To Possum: my wife is a uni grad and without doubt not a prostitute. I would agree though that 70% of men marry hookers whether they knpw it or not. My wife also is attractive. But I would rather not be married otherwise. I could do without the diploma if she had a great job.

Get hobbies, lose weight, smile, be helpful, smile and no fatties. If you are hunting uni girls and over 40 best you be working out and can speak some Thai. Otherwise, order in off the dating sites.

A little over generalization on your part, is it not, that I frequent bar

girls and send them money?!

I have yet to send any of my hard earned money to one of these

clever girls!

Have not done the bar scene for over 20 years but find ladies on the skytrain,

shopping centers, and hotel workers who are eager to meet me later!

All want cell phones, clothes, perfume, and oh yes, cash!!

Yes, the subject was on university girls and yes they get pregnant also!

Have a Thai nurse friend at Bumrungrad Hospital who said she did not

have a boyfriend and was still a virgin.

Miraculously, four years later she is pregnant!!

And there're brainy bar girls around, as they know what men like to hear, or their sexual desires on Viagra. And the size of their...aeehh wallets.

I remember a "girl" who had eight foreigners sending her money. She needed her laptop not just to chat on facebook...

"Please come one week later, my mother just had a heart attack" etc....

Of course, everything you say goes on, I have come across a couple of occasions where the wives have had fun with other guys, but most of my friends marriages to bargirls have worked out well.

For not knowing me and who I am and what I do that is a big generalization on your part

would you not say!

Just because I have now become a member of TV does not mean that I have not

been reading the posts on TV.

Sitting on a computer all day does not seem to interest me that much!

One thing I have noticed about this post on university girls is that not one guy

has mentioned that he has a university or even a college degree!

If I have missed it I am sure someone will point it out to me!

Several guys have said they teach English at such and such university.

And why would I want to buy you dinner as you are the one wanting to prove the point

of your wife having a university degree which can be easily forged along with passports,

work histories, and birth certificates!

If you have lived here long enough for a few bahts anything is possible here in Thailand!

My girl is from university. Her friends all seem to approve and see the idea of dating a foreigner positively (exotic/romantic/etc). BUT: the ones I've met, including my now girlfriend, were definitely shy and wary, and perhaps easy to scare off. Keep in mind that girls at that age will have had very little exposure to foreigners, you maybe first they've ever met. Some of them may not have had much exposures to guys at all. And a lot will be unconfident in their English skills (speaking thai helped me a lot). But I don't think there is an attitude of 'foreigners = bad guys'. Not what i have seen. Most haven't had enough contact or exposure to the west to make that kind of judgement. It's more a case of 'these guys are so alien and different'. That's just my experience, I teach english at universities also.

IMHO - nothing scares Thai women away from foreigners - exactly the opposite. I am over 60, overweight and married, but a number of young Thai women have approached both my wife and I with the idea of becoming a 'Mia Noi'...

NOW THAT IS SCARY...!!!

I don't think it would be that hard to land one. Buy some nice clothes, nice watch, find one that speaks just the right amount of English, when asked about your job make up some believable crap. Then, as Joe Pesci so aptly put it, "now pink veal, you can pound that shit for 2 days, and it will never..."

What did your wife think of that?

Because the same happened to me , floored me .

After living here for more that 10 years in local Thai communities have see it a lot with locals , seems age is not a big factor for many of these

It's a "mixed-bag."

Most wouldn't risk the disapproval and ridicule

from their peer group. Occasionally, you could find

a curious one that needs "sponsorship."

That's only true if you take "Farang" to mean some fat balding sexpat in a sleeveless vest. I've known some 20-something white guys studying at Thai universities and the Thai university girls are all over them. They have the pick of the bunch when it comes to dating and I'm sure the girl's friend all think she really cool and "inter" for dating an international student.

Exactly. My niece is in university here so I am pretty up to date on the goings on in that set, and her Thai peers are very, very keen to date foreigners...foreign university students & faculty, that is (and faculty only if young and attractive).

They marry 'em (Farang teachers) at OUR university!

Sent from my tin can via string

Is there not any comeback from the university on this sort of thing?

There are plenty of University and College students in their twenties, so what would be wrong with a teacher marrying them if they went to teach at another school? or if the student herself went to another Uni?

Well, the key would be changing schools, wouldn't it. Hence the question

Without changing schools I would imagine it would be frowned upon. How would Thai teachers react, is it common for them to have relationships too?

Be modern and have a gig.

I don't expect my bf to have one, so I won't. Oh and I can be modern without a gig. Having gigs is too mainstream here.

Just saying if you have been here for so many years but have not come acrrosss a farang married to a collge grad that you either don't go out or don't hang in those circles. Nothing wrong being married to a bar girl have a friend in US has been married for 9 years has a son with her and the marriage is good. Another been with girl almost 2 years living here but have also seen and heard of major problems with some. Since you say paperwork can be forged no sense trying to prove anything to you but I met my wife after she had just graduated university and my friend married her sis who is a chemical engineer in Rayong could give you the name and you could call to ask for her at her company there but won't over this forum. Not saying anyone is better but don't generalise and say there are no farangs married to university girls because you would be wrong.
