Come learn from the experience of other expats who were in serious medical situations in Chiang Mai. We'll explain an Advance Health Directive that has been used successfully in local hospitals and share tips on how your foreign Advance Directive (or Living Will) can be utilized here, along with other actions you can do now to prepare for your own Happy Ending.

Hi NancyL,

I'll RSPV via email. Sounds like an excellent idea. See you and I trust many others on Saturday 15 Feb.

I enquired of a doctor at BNH here in Bangkok about the status of Advanced Medical Directives in Thailand. He laughed and said "We ignore them. As long as you have money we will continue to keep you alive." He asserted this is general practice at most private (ie. for-profit) hospitals in Bangkok. Does anyone know anything different?

This is definitely NOT the case. With your Advance Directive you appoint a Health Care Representative and it is the responsibility of that person to see that your wishes are carried out. The AD serves as an important document to give your HCR the authority and credibility to make decisions on your behalf when you can no longer serve as your own advocate.

This Feb 15 seminar was so popular that we are repeating it on July 12. I suggest you come and learn more.
