Facetime

Admittedly I've only used Face time a couple of times. I tried it while visiting Thailand and it wouldn't work connecting back to the USA. I tried it using True 3G and on WiFi in the hotel.

Is anyone using face time successfully to communicate with the USA or there original country?

Any tips?

I've used FaceTime calling to Thailand from work in West Africa and Dubai mainly on wifi but also on occasion using 3G and have rarely any issues with it, I'd use it as a choice over Skype assuming the other person is also using an iPhone, even used FaceTime on 3G out in the sticks of Central Thailand to call UK without problem

Just an amendment to Steve's post, 3G via FaceTime could be used from the iPhone 4S model, but I think the earlier iPhone 4 models could also be used on FaceTime via 3G by installing certain tweaks or whatever you call them when jail broken

CMSteve

It could also be the phone. older iPhones can only factime with wifi. I think the iPhone 5 was the first phone with facetime working on 3G and greater

Another thing worth knowing is that Apple recently introduced FaceTime Audio, just voice calls with no video. It is supposed to give better quality calls than cellular, but I suppose it

all depends on the internet connection. In your iPhone, go to a contact, and you should see a camera icon for FaceTime Video, and a phone icon for FaceTime Audio. press which one you prefer.
