Intermittent starting problem on Honda Click..? Helppppp

Do not know if you have access to any wiring schematics so I found this site which has a few different versions of the Honda click.

In Russian so you have to dig a little but it should get you on the right track hopefully.

This was a typical diagram....... (maybe not your model ) .... http://mototh.com/files/honda/Click-110/Honda-Click-110-Service-Manual-Eng.pdf

And this was the web site .......... http://mototh.com/ru/bikes/honda

Over many years I have found the wiring charts to be a generalization and one has to follow ones nose so-to-speak but the above may be helpful.

Cheers........ Jorgocoffee1.gif.pagespeed.ce.Ymlsr09gMJ.gif

I admit not to having read the complete thread since my initial reply, but it sounds like there may be more than one issue here, and one that intrigues me is the stopping with the large guy onboard, since its not a crushed fuel line how about the the seat being compressed onto the filler cap breather hole? I had this many years ago on a Triumph cause by a tank bag and when the engine was gettinf 'starved' od fuel I just lifted the tankbag to clear the problem! When the bike refuses to star, lift the seat and perhaps remove filler cap and then try and start it. Good luck

Today i went to my dealer and asked why the connectors on the engine are not sleeved, they are open and water can easy come in the connectors. They said Honda made it this way and if there is a problem with the connectors i have 5 years warranty.

I have no idea how long your warranty was/is but that would be the easyiest option.

Does your bike have idling stop? Then you can read this http://rideapart.com/2011/04/how-motorcycle-stopstart-works/

My SH also has idling stop and i never hear the startermotor but now i know how it works.

No idle stop on mine, but interesting to see how it works..thumbsup.gif

As other have said, if no relay clicking, it's likely side switch or brake switch.

Definately not any of the 3 safety switches.

I can't check any thing else, as for the last two days has started and run perfectly[up to 20 starts]...bizarre

Won't start by kick starter if side stand switch is faulty anyway, and have determined it's not either of the brake switches....

I cant test anything for faults whilst all is working,so play the waiting game now...

Update;

Bike has electric started 20-30 times in a row over last few days...today was out and about .electric 5 starts, then ..no electric start..kicked started and came home to commence re-checking things..parked it, got some tools, tried the electric starter before dismantling and bingo ..the thing starts again!!!

Ghosts are present....facepalm.gif truely intermittently bizarre!!

Andre these are the hardest faillures to solve. It is a bad connection or a broken cable.

You could take all the cables from the starterengine and sand the connectors with sandpaper. If that is not helping then a cable is broken inside.Look which cable is bending if a heavy guy comes on the back, that will probably be the one. If an electric cable is bendid many times it will create a resistance-spot inside and is called broken but it still can be in 1 piece.

Is your battery still fully charged when it won't start? It might be empty and then the charging system is the culprit.

I had a similar problem, however it did not involve two overweight riders. on my Honda 70. I installed a pull cord like on a lawn mower or the old outboard engines. Problem solved.

As I'm facing the same problem (without the heavy friend) I'm really curious if you solved the problem.

Ton there's been a few starter problems over the last few days. Does the head light dim badly when trying to start. I suspect not. then the battery is OK.

You have either worn/stuck or dirty brushes in the starter or a dirty relay. Get someone to look at/rebuild the starter and /or the relay.

If it is a new Click 125i then all bets are off as it doesn't have a conventional starter.
