A prenuptial is not needed, but if one of the parties has property it might be advisable. Under Thai law all that was your before the marriage remains yours, upon divorce or death you only split what was acquired during the marriage.

What will be needed is that both of you get a letter from your embassy stating that you are free to marry. You have it next translated into Thai and than certified by the Thai foreign ministry. Next stop will be a Thai district office. I would recommend one in BKK, such as Bang Rak, where they are used to deal with foreigners.

You need to provide two witnesses, but most times the district office will provide two witnesses (sometimes for a small fee).
