Craiglist, TVclassified: are smartphones from India genuine?

Featured Replies

Maybe I'm an awful paranoid and racist and I would like to apologize first.
Well, it happened to me already twice to inquire about classifieds I liked in CL and TV about an iPad and a Nexus5. Both times the seller is a kind Indian man, speaking good English, who pretends to sell goods bought in India.
I understand that Aussies, Americans or Frenchies can sell Nexus in Thailand because they are cheaper in their country than here but the Nexus cost 13500 THB in India and the guy sells at 11000.
Some bells rang. Maybe unfairly.
What about if the phone is not genuine? What about the guaranty? What about if it "fell from the plane"?

My question is simple: did you have any experience buying Indian smartphones in Bangkok from an Indian seller.
