How best to determine if pharmacy products are legit / clean? Two examples: xanax and testosterone.

Well for starters, if drugs that are not legally allowed to be sold OTC (like xanax and viagra) are being so sold, there is an excellent chance they are fake. And even if they are not, you risk legal problems for buying them.

If the brand in question is not legal for sale in Thailand at all (e.g. Kamagra, not registered in Thailand), also increased risk it is fake.

In my experience fake pharmaecuticals are not a large problem in mainstream Thai pharmaceuticals, they are pretty much confined to a small number of drugs aimed specifically at the tourist/expat market.
