3BB FTTx INTERNET in Pattaya (Darkside) - any good?

since my TOT ADSL becomes crappier every week, I am looking for alternatives.
Does anyone have experiences with 3BB FFTx (Fiber) in Pattaya, especially on the "Darkside" Neurn Plub Wan area ("Soi Muslim")?

What is your download speed without "Downloadmanager"?

Is the speed per connection capped somehow?

Is streaming (Not HD) possible, or unreliable?

PS: Please don't post speedtests from BKK or Chiang Mai...wink.png .

A bit off topic. Sorry

I went today to the 3bb office in Big C Extra to ask about this. They told that because I am living in a condo the max speed they can guarantee is 10 Mb. I found that very strange, so I went to CAT and they will come around somewhere this week, to give me a cost estimate for their 20/5 install.

I have now 2 adsl lines (TOT and 3bb) but TOT is more off then on (and TOT engineers can't be bothered to come and check) so I am replacing this one with fibre.

PS: I am living in Central

I have several condos with Fiber 3 BB - 30 & 50 MB/ Near Avenue Mall and on Soi Bouakao. For all of them had to pay cable installation from outside condo/road or some from box about ca. 100m away.

They also said, can not be done. Told them I pay the private contractor they use to install and was done. Actually one of them to a first fl. was free, some promo, still the installation guy got me for a thousand, as 1 fl. up....hahaha...

Speeds are ok, fluctuating +/- 15% but there have been several interruptions lately, that were general and lasted up to 10 hours....They were on all accounts. I am now checking into other providers, as I would like a load balance system fed by 2 different providers each 50 MB, in case anybody knows some more about this. Hope this helps. MS>

That is indeed very strange.

I am in a condo too

and I have the 13 Mb @ 900 baht 3BB pack

and have nearly always between 14 & 16 Mb effective smile.png

.......and have nearly always between 14 & 16 Mb effective....

...............whistling.gif

inside Thailand perhaps. (And in the middle of the night)

But what is with international speed to EU/USA at peak times (afternoon/evening)?

And I don't talk about the results, what the "cheated" speedtest.net shows.

For example: I can download a file from my "Dropbox" at 50 Mbit/s (ADSL limit) with my home-server in Germany.

The same file, at the same time, can be downloaded over TOT with 1 Mit/s or less (when unlucky).

For video streams: it seems, TOT has a massive packet loss somewhere, or the "filtering/sniffing server" in Bkk are just to slow.

A 500 kbit/s video stream from my "home-server" in Germany (which has 10 Mbit/s upload), is unusable because of permanent buffering, whereas the same stream

can be watched from Singapore 24h/day without any drops....

PS: even to Bkk, I have ping times ~40 ms, which is a little bit high.

<snip>

I was asking them about 3BB fiber (as that is what this topic is about) and not about Adsl.

The cheapest 3BB Fiber package is around 1200THB
