Kittirat runs for his life after getting hit by water bottles thrown by angry farmers

Featured Replies

Wow.

"Rice Farmers" carrying bottles of designer water, just like the Bangkok people who were pretending to be farmers last week.

Wow

Clearly you have a very fixed stereotype of what a farmer should be drinking, or deserve to be drinking. Anything other than the cheapest bottle of water clearly indicates that they aren't real farmers. Right?

Following you logic through then this would clearly suggest that PTP has failed in lifting the farmers from poverty, as (your stereotyping of farmers) shows that the farmers (still) can't afford anything other than the cheapest, most local water. Thanks for highlighting the failure.

I do not think you would want to get hit by one of the cheapest as it is glass

So who is a "farmer"

This media thing would have you believe there is an angry rice farmer uprising in their ongoing anti/UDD/RS/PTP campaign.

This magnification of Kitirat running for his life from so-called rice farmers obscures the fact these were coup-monger protesters, some of whom are probably rice farmers, whose actions would be predictable.

Trying to make out that coup-monger elements are generic rice farmers is media agenda, pure and simple, out to embarras the Govt. and its' millions of voter-support.

It stands to reason that the majority electorate behind the Govt. are not about to attack in the manner described in this article.

According to what I am hearing from the other side...namely the UDD/RS/PTP.

Always good to hear both sides, right!

"the majority electorate behind the Govt"

Do you mean the 40% of the 46% that voted? Not quite a majority.

Publish the Feb. 2nd. election results the electoral minority are trying to avoid at all costs, and I rest my case.

It is not the UDD/RS/PTP trying to nullify an election and sabotage by-elections as their EC friends are trying to do...Could there be a reason for that?

The majority in Parliament which the Opposition and their coup-monger friends tried to destroy - choking policemen, throwing chairs, assaulting the Speaker - would not have happened without an electoral majority being a 'clear and present danger' to the minority.

Trying to characterize a legitimate electoral based Parliamentary majority is some sort of 'dictatorship' speaks volumes....Are British, Canadian, Australian Parliamentary majorities 'dictatorships'

Street coup-mongers and their shadowy Elitist friends aren't trying to demonize and avoid elections for nothing...it is because of 'electoral majorities.

No amount of smoke or trying to obscure an electoral majority makes sense...other than for those who want such a thing..

I am very comfortable about referencing electoral majorities vs, minorities....the evidence overwhelmingly supports it.

Yep always good to hear both sides.

Although your not doing ' your side' many favors by calling those who oppose you ' coup-mongers'.

Clearly by using such terms you wish to paint those who oppose your view in a negative light and by doing so show your own 'agenda' (i.e. they are bad, we are good, we are not like them!) - just like the media agenda you allude to. Seems to me you have more in common with the coup-mongers than you would like to admit - tactics for one!

BTW on a personal note i think dismissing farmers as 'coup-monger protesters' is a spectacular own goal for the simple fact that the farmers are not controlled by the UDD / PTP. They think and act for themselves. You should show them more respect

What? Whybother making comments about other peoples use of the word "majority" - Now that makes a change, not.

No comment on the interesting points made in the post, oh no, let's just pick on the word " majority".

Designer water? Evian?

On the news it was the bottles with the green labels that you see the uni girls carrying. (you also see then topping of the posh bottles from the cheap ones).

I am not saying that the farmers are girls.

What a petty little person - guess you drink klong water so you don't look too posh.

Has Songkran come early this year?

@mrtoad - Despite the delusional ideas of some people who have been brainwashed by their wives, many of the posters who are against the PDRC are NOT supporters of the red. I know it's hard for someone like you to get that. And the reason for some of the posters you accuse of being red, do not want reply in this thread is that they don't want to participate in a childish debate where throwing water bottles is the highlight of the day.

Can't be done, by Law, and as such, trying to claim an electoral minority is just plain wrong and deceitful.

Suit you sir.

When people continue to get it wrong, it should be pointed out that it is wrong.

There are enough comments about "coup-mongering" farmers already. I don't really understand why farmers that a demanding payments should be considered "coup-mongering".

I'm surprised that he didn't use one of his infamous "white lies" and tell the farmers that they would be paid next week.

He may actually have a ounce of integrity left in him by not wanting to give an answer he knows does not exist.

But after this real life experience I'm sure it has changed him and he will no longer come out to meet farmers.

I anticipate many more white lies to come to save YL and his own skin. Ministers, what a pathetic bunch of incompetents.

"By their works shall ye know them"

Excellent last sentence FB!

After more than 2.5 years of observing their 'works" most people can indeed form an opinion of how PTP operate.

The farmers certainly seem to have.

She just told him that they're having Songkran early this year to get him to go outside.

When people continue to get it wrong, it should be pointed out that it is wrong.

There are enough comments about "coup-mongering" farmers already. I don't really understand why farmers that a demanding payments should be considered "coup-mongering".

It is the PDRC faux farmer Leaders that I take issue with.

I'd be more impressed if all those posters who have embraced the rice farmers plight so wholeheartedly, admitted to themselves that suthep and the PDRC are just exploiting them for political purposes.

It wasn't that long ago that they, along with some posters here, were cursing the rice farmers as ignorant peasants and red kwai.

Frankly, the hypocrisy sickens me.

Kittirat runs away after getting hit by water bottles

BgrDV9iCEAENIUP-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Frightened caretaker Finance Minister Kittirat na Ranong was forced to walk and run for life after getting hit by water bottles thrown by angry farmers when he failed to give exact date on rice payment to them.

Kittirat was assigned by caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to come out of her temporary office in the Office of the Defense Permanent Secretary at Muangthong Thani complex to meet farmer though farmers wanted to see her.

They have waited since 10.00 a.m. but Ms Yingluck defied their call, prompting them to strongly attack her on loudspeakers.

Only Kittirat appeared but was booed and shouted at when he told farmers that they be paid accordingly under a new arrangement of registration of their rice vouchers.

Farmers were enraged and asked why they have to be re-registered, and wanted immediate payment after the government defaulted payment for over five months.

They demanded Kittirat to give exact date for the payment. But he couldn’t promise.

Boos and shouts get louder and louder and water bottles were thrown at him.

Frightened Kittirat was later escorted out of the farmers cordon by MP police.

But when more bottles were thrown, he was forced to walk and run for life back into the temporary office for shelter.

Farmers later announced they will stay overnight at the office of the permanent secretary for defense and vowed to step up their protest to overthrow Ms Yingluck.

They will wait for their colleagues from the provinces to join and to begin tougher protest and pressure on Yingluck Wednesday.

So the gov and YL have a new tactic to delay payment to the farmers.

Reregistration could take months to complete and payments could not be madd until it was done.

I wonder if the farmers are smart enough to see this for what it really is.

Now that the BAAC can not help YL because the GSB cAncelled their loans.

YL and the finance minister came up with this crazy idea. Lets see what this turn of events makes unfold.

...one would think that this is cause enough for the government to resign....

They demanded Kittirat to give exact date for the payment. But he couldn’t promise.

Wasn't the government in the news just yesterday, in connection with the GSB to BAAC loans, saying the farmers would be paid within a montn???

Now in today's news, no promises on the timing. Not that anyone believed their claims about paying in a month, in the first place.

"Kittirat was assigned by caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to come out of her temporary office in the Office of the Defense Permanent Secretary at Muangthong Thani complex to meet farmer though farmers wanted to see her."

The arch liar got sent out then. He must be losing his touch and now everyone can see through his BS lies.

Singha designer water. LOL. I heard the terrorists in the Middle East are thinking of employing water bottles as the new weapon of choice. He ran for his life, as water bottles tend to be quite lethal. If they hit you in the head you can get knocked down. Wow. Very dangerous stuff. Warlike situation. Most danger he has ever faced. The natives are getting restless indeed. This is what happens when you establish a hair brained program, without the cash to back it up. Silly, incompetent, immature, unprepared, and poor leadership are just some of the descriptions that come to mind.
