Hi,

I've recently got a 1 year extension of a previous single entry ED visa and a multiple re-entry permit for this period.

I will likely travel in/out of Thailand about every month. Sometimes I stay continuously for only 10 days, other times for 2-3 months.

When I'm in Thailand, I try to attend all the classes.

I can read&communicate in Thai, but not fluently.

I'd like to understand some scenarios:

1. I was told by the school officials that I no longer need to do either 90 days reports nor notifications of address. Is this correct?

2. If I travel outside of Thailand for a period longer than 90 days ( within the 1 year validity period of the visa extension),

a. Will I have trouble at the airport due to this extended travel period ( e.g. am I supposed to return within 90 days ?)

b. Are they authorized to test my Thai language knowledge on the spot and deny entry if I don't understand their questions/proverbs/accent?

3. If I do stay in Thailand longer than 90 days at a time, am I required to announce the school/immigration or submit an kind of documents?

4. Are there any other fees of any kind that I would need to pay within this 1 year period?

Thank you for your help!

You only have to do 90 day reports if you stay in the country for 90 days or more. If you do then you do a 90 report to immigration.

Your re-entry permit allows you to make as many entries as you want. There is no limit on how long you can be out of the country.

Immigration at the airport will not test your language skills.

1. yes.

2. if you are away a lot, they can question if you are really student. You must attend regularly. Of course it could be that you have to go out of Thailand for research, but for a language school for example it will look strange.

3. You will need to report your address every 90 days in a row you stay in Thailand.

4. No,90 day reporting is free.

Just realized that I never replied here.

Thank you Mario2008 and Ubonjoe for the clear explanations.

I'm flying out tomorrow so we'll see how it goes.
