telecom
Still no statement from police or CMPO saying they are investigating? Wonder why? People lobbing grenades around Bangkok on a busy Friday night not considered illegal? And they blame the decline of tourists on the PDRC when in fact it is more likely to be government supporter terrorist attacks and an attitude that it is quite OK to do it.

There would be no attacks if the anti-democracy protests were not happening. I really wonder why the protestors are bothering to continue protesting. There is no way that YL and PT will submit to their demands. Things have gone way beyond peaceful street demonstrations. The game has moved onto the courts and business sectors now. The protestors have served their purpose. They have highlighted some of the main weaknesses of the ruling PT party to the Thai public who may have been initially ignorant of it. They have exposed some figures of PT to be totally ineffectual and capable of telling lies. They are unlikely to achieve anything more at this stage other than to inconvenience the residents and business owners and employees at the protest sites. Shutdown Bangkok was a flop but was successful in other areas. A good leader knows when to attack and when to retreat and call it a day.

TallPalm
Sorry, but this article is devoid of any facts based upon proper investigation by the authorities, other than "an explosion occured and people injured". How otherz can post opinions that the man in Dubai is behind it, the gov't is behind it, or even the protestors are involved to create sympathy, without the benefiit of facts is beyond me. I certainly do not know who is behind it and in a normal democracy, we have to look at the facts without pure speculation and hype which can further inflame the anamosity going on in the country. But I guess some have nothing else to do with their time than to offer up non-factual opinions. Well done, Stan. I was going to say something upon same lines but you saved me a job (and probably summed it up better than would).

Arriving from Laos/Cambodia? most probably from cambodia rather than Laos. weapons are hard to get in Laos. Easy peesy in Cambodia.

Refusing a search by those not wanting to search you - a Groucho Marx touch there. Given the number of grenade & shooting attacks, attempts at armed police infiltration, it's not difficult to see why they want to search people. Farangs are not a problem because they generally are not a threat. Wouldn't be necessary if there was a proper independent law enforcement body. Centrum
Protest GUARDs ONLY in Amazing Thailand Yes indeed, and of course, anywhere else in the world they wouldn't be needed, because they could rely upon the police to do their duty...!! Of course you could have read the OP where you would find that some of the first people on the scene were the army who were "GUARDING NEARBY". The army have a unit stationed under the Rajprarop airport link. Literally a couple of minutes up the road. I would suggest 'observing' rather than 'guarding'. If there was a proper independent law enforcement body I would hope they would have cleared out the protestors months ago! No frisking or searching would be necessary if the anti-democracy protestors were not protesting but were instead opposing this lousy government by democratic and peaceful means. ikurauni
No one wants to see people get killed or injured. Most of the protesters are peaceful so far. However, there are crazy ones out there trying to hurt people and make the conflict even more difficult to resolve. My good Thai friends told me that violence is inevitable. But violence is not a way to resolve the conflict.
fasteddie
We always get info like their names, aves, and in this case, the hospitals the injured were taken to. But what about details if the incident for craps sake. -*I typed this myself*- Because there are no investigations of attempted murders of protesters, the police are under orders not to classify these as incidents and so we get no other details than this. You have to be a red shirt target before the story is blown up with all sorts of details investigations and comments from the police. Such is the dreadful double standards that exist currently within Thailand. Maybe Surapong will mention all this situation during his round the world all expenses paid luxury trip to bullshit the world's super powers. But then again. This is the kind of stuff the people from down south do everyday. If Southern extremists were going to explode bombs in Bangkok, they would not bomb an anti-government rally site. They would bomb Yingluck's home. Red Shirts, on the other hand, would bomb an anti-government protester rally site, as they have their own bomb experts and have a gripe with the protesters.
