Things are seriously getting out of hand. Something need to be done to bring peace before more people are killed or injured in these hate attacks. Both sides talk to help bring these attacked to a halt. Suthep hate speeches does not help matters with his popcorn man jokes. This attack could be revenge for the shooting of police this week. But innocent children being killed is too much. Sit down and talk work something out for the sake of the country.

And yet here you were just a few days ago actually advocating throwing grenades.

You don't know a dam_n thing about me. I don't kiss Suthep butt nor do I kiss the government butt. I do what is best for me and how I think. And, I think the Suthep is destroying the life of the common person for his own glory. People who have business with the government can not do business. People are threatening with harm if they go to work, Thais are having problem getting land purchases, simple acts as of passport or drive to work without the road being blocked. You can protest but not block the rights of others. As for the farmers they are too stupid to understand Suthep is the one who cause the mess for them with the stupid rice scheme. Suthep talks from both sides of his mouth in a Hilter style. Yes I hate that man and wish the worst for him. I would also like to see a fair selected group of people run the country until elections can be held. But not the Demo or Suthep involved at all. But the most important thing is everyone has rights and don't block my rights because you don't like something, I may get upset and grab a M79 and blow your ass away. This is where the violence is coming from at night, not the Reds like you want to think, it's the people on the streets. Wish up ggold and stop kissing Suthep butt all the time.

Trat?!?!

I thought all the anti-government protesters were rich elite in Bangkok or radical Deep Southerners according to several TV experts.

Sad to say!

When they stray out of their stronghold of Bangkok, and attempt to recreate in other parts of the country the havoc they created in Bangkok under the protection of the Rich E.E allies, they will be met with resistance,

Cheers

Tasteless posting.
Shame on you.
Attempting to beat political capital out of the death of innocent people.
That is sick.

As sick as the lone poster who 'liked' the report.

You sound quite pleased this happened to the PDRC. You and your likes have some maladjusted thinking if you really believe this kind of violence is ok.

Just because they attacked someone who thinks and feels differently about politics doesnt make it ok to hurt them. Next you will be thinking its ok to kill someone if they dont follow the REDS.

If it is your way or no way then you are the beginnings of a Hitler regime.

My suggestion to kikoman and jollyman and other who feel this way is to seek emergency psycholigical medical treatment

Im sure the doctors can find a cure for RED BLINDNESS.

Hey hey easy there brutus ...

If you organise a protest that holds a city hostage to the dictatorial opinion of a tiny minority, strong arm and intimidate people just doing their jobs into closing their businesses, causing the financial ruin of hundreds of tourism businesses, stop people from exercising their RIGHT to vote, chasing away investors, threatening people with violence (poptart mercenaries ... yes they are mercenaries) and showing off about it, then you are going to make a lot of people angry and provoke an equally violent response .... and if you hang around people who do this, then you MUST expect exactly this kind of thing to happen ... its not a good thing at all, but you must expect it.

I say, if you kick a dog often enough then you have no right to complain when it bites you.

I regret terribly that children have been hurt, but in all honesty what kind of parent takes a child into such a potentially violent situation? If Suthep really cared he'd send them home, but the coward wants his human shields.

Sent from my GT-N5100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Whoa there. You talk a good talk but you completely twist the facts.

The protesters didnt hold this city hostage. In fact nobody was hostage to anything except traffic jams being diverted from the protest sites.

From what i understand business was booming near the protest sites. Only those who chose to close did. The protesters didnt harass businesses until just recently and now only Thaksin owned businesses are targeted.

Since the thai constitution states it is their right to hold these protests on public grounds and since all the gov bldgs are considered PUBLIC to the thai people then these protests were legalvwether you like them or not.

They didnt stop the gov workers from doing their job because the workers relocated to other places. The gov didnt stop working.

The protest did not chase the money from foreigners away. Tourism was a little lower than normal in bkk but outside of bkk was ok. YL starting this SOE is what chased investors and tousrists away. People were watchful and leery about coming here but the SOE made them sure not to come. It also made other gov deny exit for tourists here and caused airline travel insurances to br cancelled.

I cannot deny that Suthep has gotten a big head and has shown he has people to protect his supporters from attacks. But if you objectively at his reasons. It is the gov job to protect them during constitutionally approved demonstrations. They didnt supply police support sufficient to the protest numbers to do this and in turn pot shots were taken at them at various locations. If you were Suthep you would not be trustful if that happened to you and would want your own protection.

I dont agree with Suthep blocking the votes. But by doing that it gave time for criminal activity to come to light and for the public to become aware of these. This delay ultimately made people look a little closer at the gov and YLS dealings. Havent you ever thought about why YL was so quick to resign and call for fast elections and push the EC to hold then even without the numbers for people to vote for. Even when approved to delay YL insisted it happen immediately. ASAP. After that many controversial scandals have been announced. Look at the logic of it all.

Your last few comments are the kicker.

Most of these people are older and very young protesting now. They are not armed and not looking for a fight. The people who attacked them are the same as terrorists. They kill innocent peaceful people in the name of who or what they believe in. They do it indiscriminarely without regard for human rights. The only people who made it violent today were these terrorists. From what i understand these protests are more of a celebration than a rally to make people angry.

So they didnt go looking for violence. They went to have fun and hear about something they believe in. Violence came looking for them.

You really should follow all the news without bias to either side. Maybe then you can see all that is happening with better eyes.

Sent from my GT-S5310 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Did you miss all the stories about hotels laying off staff, tourism businesses closing, airlines cutting flights, people not able to get to their jobs, malls complaining of low traffic during high season? Choice?.... choosing to close or face the threats (vandalism, violence, theft) made by protestors (yes I have friends threatened by protestors) is NO choice ... its terrorism plain and simple

Tell me is AIS a thaksin owned company? No it isnt? Suthep order a hit on that? Yes he did.

This protest is not about democracy or about getting rid of PTP. Dictator Suthep saw an opportunity last year to install himself as dictator for life and he's going for it ... his ego will clearly not accept anything less. If you really believe he wants reforms in the interest of all Thais then you're delusional .... that simply doesn't fit his psychological profile

It is one thing to support your preferred political party but quite another to support the muder of children as happened last night. Grown men can shoot the sh*t out of each other to prove how big their willy's are if they want to but to deliberately throw grenades and then open fire on innocent women and children is beyond politics. The reds have shown us they do not have any considerstion for the country just themselves and they have done it with tacit approval from yl, chalerm, tarit, thaksin and the police. These murders are on their heads, there are no excuses possible for what has happened, anyone supporting this or making excuses for it are simply demented individuals that are not capable of rational thinking. No children should be killed in the name of your prefered political party, the low life red scum from 2010 are back again.

I agree with most of what you say and I despise the Thaksin movement as much as anyone but my question is how do we know it was the reds? Are we assuming or has someone claimed responsibility for the attack?

There is only one person who could possibly think he could benefit from a coup and that is Thaksin..

Then he would bring out his red thugs to fight the army (the reds have said as much) thereby creating a civil war.

That would be the cue, after a time, for the great peacemaker and savior to return (he thinks) to reunite the country.

There .is no way a coup and the resulting civil war could possibly benefit anyone else.

Last nights horrendous attack shows what it would be like if a coup took place with bands of armed raiders shooting at anything they saw as soft targets, including farang.

These armed raiders wouldn't even need to have any political affiliation they could just be doing it for some perverted sense of fun, or robbery.

The army at present cant control the killers in the south, consider what it would be like if the same thing were to happen all over the country.

Fortunately the top brass knows this and aren't buying it.

Can we please stop posting show us your evidence? There is none due to a lack of any investigation by Police, who are led by the CMPO. Also I think red snakes posts are horrible. However lay off him at least his latest post is completely sensible and to the point regardless of politics!

Tommy, if posters don't have evidence then they need to lay off making unsubstantiated claims as to the perpetrators of this evil act.

If they have no evidence then prefix it by 'in my opinion' or some such construct. If they can't do that then better they don't post at all.

One dead, 34 injured from attacks at Trat's PDRC stage
By English News

BANGKOK, Feb 23 - A five year-old girl was killed while 34 persons were injured from last night's shootings and grenade attacks at anti-government People's Democratic Republic Committee (PDRC) rally stage in the eastern province of Trat's Khao Saming district.

The incident took place at 9.30pm on Saturday night as PDRC protesters were having political activites around Yingcharoen Market area.

Among the 34 wounded, six of them were seriously injured and one of them was a small child. The injured were admitted to hospitals in Trat and Rayong provinces, according to Public Heath Ministry's Dr Supan Sritanma, director-general of the Medical Services Department, and Dr Anurak Amornpetchsathaporn, director of emergency public health office.

Public Health Ministry also prepared a medical team for today's gathering of the pro-government United Front for Democracy (UDD) supporters in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, as four thousands people are expected to attend. Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said his party expressed condolences for the incident and denounced such untoward acts in Trat.

Meanwhile, Trat's local authorities investigated the scene at Khao Saming district. An initial investigation indicated that gunmen drove two pick-up trucks into the market area where the stage was set up, threw bombs and commenced shootings. Shrapnel and bomb fragments were collected for evidence.
PDRC spokesman Akanat Promphan denounced the Trat attacks and expressed condolences for the loss from the incident.

Democrat Party's Ongart Klampaiboon also denounced the attacks and asked the caretaker government to find the ill-intentioned culprits. (MCOT online news)

The first thing that comes to mind is that this is closer to a terrorist attack than anything we have seen so far. People were peacefully gathered in a market. A truck pulled up, lobbed grenades and indiscriminately sprayed bullets into the crowd of defenseless civilians, including children. As is the case whenever such utterly unspeakable crimes against humanity are committed, one can only shake one's head and wonder how people could commit something as truly unspeakable as this. It has already claimed the life of a child, and four others precariously cling to life.

This rally contained a speaker from the Northeast who used to be a great advocate for Thaksin. He is now an advocate against him, as he says Thaksin poses a great threat to the judiciary.

Trat is a small province in the East that borders Cambodia. Cambodia has long been a refuge for UDD leaders on the run, and Cambodia is known to be sympathetic to the movement and to Thaksin. Cambodia also has a horrible human rights record. It is very hard to separate Trat's geographic location from this horrific event in one's mind.

At the end of the day, one has to ask oneself - what forces pose a greater threat to society - the ones calling for change, or the ones that are willing to inflict terror to prevent it ?

the ones calling for change, or the ones that are willing to inflict terror to prevent it ?

Don't know how to answer that because they could be the same animal. No one has any idea who carried out this horrible act yet. I sure hope they get what is coming to them.

All violence must be condemned.

From this common point we can look back at events leading up to this and some common things.

Firstly, children should not be anywhere near to political protests, and protest leaders should discourange parents taking children to politicial protests. Sadly protest leaders see children and old people and monks as their "human shields" and so do not discourage irresponsible parents from taking children. They then milk the media should a child get hurt or worst still killed.

Secondly, it is disgraceful for Suthep and the PDRC to be mocking the police and government claiming they have popcorn warriers defending them who will kill and shoot police. This outrageous behaviour will stop many police from being too close to and therefore protecting protestors and protests. This outrageous behaviour will incite violence from a core element of Thai society that is violent. We all know that some police are linked with criminals, as are the Army as are the Elite of Bangkok as are politicians of all parties (just like the PDRC have thier popcorn warriers). They all have the power to put their criminal friends into gear to go out and shoot and kill for them - the outrageous mocking and batiing by Suthep has perhaps (and maybe not) led to this attack. Everyone should hang their heads in shame, the person who should do so the most is Suthep, his speeches of the last days have led to this.

Thirdly, its is disgraceful to read people accuse red shirts of doing this. Without a single shred of evidence they feel they can justify their own hate by blaiming the people they hate for doing something like this. Many people have been wronged by the PDRC and their protests. The police, the government, many business owners, many companies, many powerful politicians, many individuals, many voters or would be voters expressing their desire for democracy - there is a very long list of millions of people who feel they have been wronged by the PDRC's antics.

Fourthly there is always the potential for people who want military intervention to do false flag attacks to support this.

Nobody knows the truth as it stands and nobody knows who is to blame, but everyone has to condemn violence and condemn those who openly speak of supporting violence or having armed people in thier midst ready to shoot and kill.

In my opinion all of that, of course.

Firstly: Go have a look at the place where this happened. It was in the middle of a village with many roadside stalls where people normally go and have a noodle soup. How do you know that this mother actually attended the rally and did not just happen to be there? (Nobody knows the truth.... blablabla, but ready to blame.)

Secondly: Mocking the police? Give me a break! What police? They haven't done anything in this whole demonstration season except mock themselves.

Thirdly : Trat people have a long history of being Democrats and voting for the Dems. They have come "en masse" to Bangkok to protest against the Shinawatra government. Nobody in Trat has been wronged by Suthep.

Fourthly: It takes quite a sick mind to blame the protesters for this attack. Don't the Red Shirts have a history of brutal violence all around the country? (Remember 2010!) As they say in USA: If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, chances are it IS a duck.

Firstly, my original post said ANYWHERE NEAR......

if the PDRC set up a protest site near me, I would go away, I would avoid it. I certainly would not allow my kids to be anywhere near it.

It is said the PDRC guards (maybe some popcorn warriers) were eating noodles at the shop, which is why it was targetted. Would you allow your children to be near to PDRC guards ?

Secondly, the police are doing their job with the constraints they have. They have been told by the Army repeatedly to not use force, not use tear gas. They have the courts holding their hands behind their backs. What do you expect the police to do when they are not allowed to be police by the other forces that control Thailand ?

Thirdly, not everyone in Trat supports the PDRC or Democrats. Why was their only 500 people at the protest and not tens of thousands. Tens of millions of people have been wronged by the PDRC in some way, shape or form.

Fourthly, the cycle of violence was started in 2008 by the PAD/Yellow shirts. They used violence as a means back then, which has started this cycle of violence and protests.

All in my opinion of course.

Gee LevelHaed, please go and have a look at the site. It's a small village near the border of Trat to Chantaburi, total population perhaps 2,000. The whole province has perhaps 200,000 people. It's a peaceful, rural area, no violence. How on earth could you get tens of thousands of people together on a "normal" Saturday evening? Get real! But anyway, what has the number of rally goers got to do with this unprovoked terrorist attack?

Please get some factual background info before posting such nonsense.

The police is doing their job? Seriously? Have you ever been in Thailand?

I don't quite get your fourthly: Do you mean to say the 2008 events justify this? Or does any other event?

I respect an opinion, as long as it is based on facts. Yours isn't.

Wow....So you are implying this may have been a Thaksin sponsored attack with Cambodian support.

And what evidence do you have for this?

Would that be the truckloads of Cambodian fighters that the Thai Navy claimed had entered the country?

So for some balance here lets not forget the large amount of Thai Army and Navy positions located in Trat due to it's location to the border and not forgetting their tacit support of Suthep.

At the end of the day, one has to ask oneself - what forces pose a greater threat to society - the ones calling for change, or the ones that are willing to inflict terror to prevent it ?

This statement is particularly odious.

To imply that the PDRC are non violent victims is naive at best.

They are equally willing to support violence and terror to further their aims.

Exactly.

This country is very immature and has very limited means of conflict solution other than violence.

People getting killed over a 100 Baht taxi fare, women dismembering their boyfriends, the constant shouting and throwing things in TV soap operas, the coward revenge cases for "losing face", the thousands killed in the South, some of the highest murder rate in the world and so on.

It will take generations until Thailand would resemble a civil democratic state.
