Scores of people injured in bomb attack during anti-government rally in Trat

Bringing Children to "Peaceful" protests, in not an uncommon thing, anywhere in the world. Bringing children to protests, where violence is expected, is a different story. I do believe, that most of these peaceful protesters in Trat, did not expect to get attacked by grenades and drive-by shooters. The following is a response from the PDRC...
This courageous 8 year-old girl, critically injured in last night's slaughter in Trat province, has lost her life (this is reportedly an image of her from late last night). One more adult victim also passed away this morning bringing the current Trat fatalities to five (2 children, 3 adults).

This is the second child murdered in last night's bombing. The first was a 5 year-old girl. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all 5 deceased and of all those injured in this horrific attack. Again, we condemn the assailants and those behind the slaughter at Trat, and fervently hope that they are swiftly brought to justice.

...The sad thing is, that people are dying, because of a few very rich and very selfish people, on both sides.

Our condolences to the victims! wai2.gif

One of the very few honest and sensible replies i have read today so sad sad.png

Yes it is sad that kids suffer via a few brain dead folk.

No news in Thailand, I expect we will see it on CNN first

That doesn't come as much of a shock does it? Media suppression, and the "if we don't talk about it, it didn't happen" mentality.

Deny the truth TIT !

The silence from both the Govt and the CMPO condemning the perpetrators of this incident is very telling.

And when things like this horrific act occur one usually expects a senior representative of the goverment/, such as a PM to pay a visit to the location to pay their repsects and express their condolences to the victims and even visit people in the hospital and state publically in no uncertain terms the the goverment in conjunction with the police will hunt these criminals down and bring them to justice

BTW where is Dear YK ?...hiding away in a safe house ?, playing on facebook again?, out shopping ? believe the Burberry new collection is out today

Probably not even aware of the fact and why would she? Too busy Skyping, shopping, ducking for cover and dreaming up more excuses and rubbish to be fed to the red brigade. Got to keep the caddy happy as it seems not much else is going his way at the moment.

Despicable excuses for human beings.

This is when police is not allowed to maintain law and order and enforcing the rule of law. It looks like more coming. The judges of courts are responsible.

YOU ARE SICK...

The perpetrators are responsible.

The police are ALLOWED to enforce the law - they just have to do it LAWFULLY!

the police are even allowed to find and arrest the people that do these things, but so far they havent caught anyone. Either incompetence or they are doing it themselves.

I can understand this horrible action, but I do not condone it by any means. Every action will have an equal and opposite reaction. Suthep and company keep ratcheting up the rhetoric and threats, and little or nothing is done about it by authorities and those whose duty is to maintain civil order. Thailand is descending into chaos, and there are few if any voices or groups that seem to be trying to resolve this. One more incident steering the outcome towards a coup I am afraid, and then the old elites will be back at the trough once more. The losers, as we all know, are the people of Thailand.

Being both would not be a stretch of the imagination.

Its amazing indeed now lets wait for the red supporters on Thai visa to claim it was self inflicted to gain sympathy and see how the UN rules on this one or that they remain silent and show their bias.

The grenade is of course unlikely to be lobbed by a protester... they are stupid but probably not that stupid. They have however made so many enemies over the last few months, its difficult to point the finger at any one group.

oh and The UN not "ruling" to your liking ? stop complaining and get to their office in bangkok and show your disapproval but blowing on your whistle for a few hours !

Thanks i knew i could count on you to make my point.

Your a very empathetic human being roblock. Might be worth having a good hard look at yourself mate and your feelings toward innocent people. Or sadly maybe you're incapable of doing so.. Hope it goes well as I feel sorry for you.

Suthep has basically created the atmosphere for these type of attacks to thrive.

I doubt this scum of the earth cares that some of his people have died, he will probably use their blood as an excuse to further his own agenda and escalate things even more.

The sooner farangs on here realism and understand that Suthep is part of the problem and not the solution, the better.

You seem to know all about using events as an excuse to further your agenda based on your posts today.

They didn't. Was always a minority party. Given opportunity to form a govt by Hindenburg, a man with little sympathy for democracy and arch anti socialist, hitler then exploited position to destroy democracy in Germany.

This thread is very depressing. Not just due to the sad and distressing topic, but because posters on both sides of the argument can't resist exploiting it for their cause. No wonder Thailand has problems if the posts on this thread are representative of the nation at large.

Very sad.

So you condone killing of innocent demonstrators that don't have the same opinion as you, do you? Let me remind you that 3 years ago, it was the reds that held Bangkok under siege for months. Among things they did was storming the Chulalongkorn Hospital, setting fire to Central World and one of the movie theatres at Siam Square.

RT@waanspeaking RT @nikhon_: (A) red shirt leader said on stage in Korat he/she was gratified by attack at PDRC Trat stage. Tida had to stop him/her.

Nothing to add...

Anyone know specifically who this was?

Bad PR for Thida that

I disagree, I think that her stepping-in & stopping the speaker, shows that she hasn't quite sold-out totally, and still has a few vestiges of decency left ?

I recall she used to declare, she was a Red-Shirt but no great fan of the Big Boss himself, wonder what she thinks these days ?

In 2010 she was actively involved in the red shirt movement, photos on the net show this and her with the radicals.
