Just found this article explaining how to easily make a quick and probably very effective mosquito trap out of a 2ltr coke bottle and some sugar and yeast.

The key parts are

1) by cutting the top of the coke bottle and inserting it upside down into the bottom of the bottle a trap is made

2) by mixing water, sugar and yeast carbon dioxide which attracts mosquitoes is created in the bottle.

I haven't tried it yet but it sounds very plausable...
