Number of customers leaving AIS doubled Friday: NBTC

I accept that AIS is now owned by a Singaporean company and understand why some people think that targeting AIS is a daft move but think about it. AIS and Thaksin's name are still linked in many minds. All other companies owned by Shin Corp will lose value as no-one will want to by them in case the same thing happens again. It will make it more difficult for Thaksin to sell and the value of the shares will drop. Perhaps Suthep is wiser than some posters think.

With 35% of AIS owned by Thai trusts, which I assume manage retirement funds and the like of the people who is going to be the real losers. Not Thaksin he is pissing himself laughing as he has nothing tied up in AIS. It is the worker the little people who Suthep says he loves and cares for whilst trying burn their money that may be invested in AIS.

When these people see their money being flushed down the toilet by Suthep I don't think they are going to thank him but they may just turn on him.

Much money seems to have been flushed from the Thai coffers by abuse of power--avoidance of tax-- Shin deals and the selling of you have to follow.

Last night I received an SMS message [automated] from AIS in Thai language stating that the company has nothing to do with Thai politics. And that the Shins sold all their shares in the company back in 2543.

Lucky you... I had 12 yesterday !! SMS message [automated] from AIS in Thai language stating that the company has nothing to do with Thai politics......

Talking to a Thai friend , they also received 12 yesterday.

I have received this notification, once and in English. If you do not wish to receive promotions or whatever in Thai or English just tell AIS and they will stop. I have been an AIS customer for 10 years and have never had any problems and I do not receive any unwanted texts.

Suthep wise? I'll come back to you on that one.

Er, why would Thaksin want to sell? It's not as if he's short of money........

Thaksin founded AIS did he? I was under the impression that it was created when a hugely corrupt government minister awarded a monopolistic telecommunications concession to an equally corrupt young policeman, and the rest is history. So, seeing as it was effectively "stolen" from the Thai people by Chalerm and Thaksin, the boycott is more than justified.

Virtually every thai.pension and commercial saving portfolio has AIS inside. Great work Suthep.

I hope AIS and every thai investor sue the little git for damaging the company and thus causing damage. ITS BEEN SOLD d******d.

I'd love to know all the insiders who had a short position in AIS prior to Friday.

For all you worried about AIS employees... I'm not. The idea of guaranteed employment is a myth and has no basis in reality.

The clever ones there would do well to start looking around for new pastures.

Well, sure they could begin to find a new job, sure foreigner investors should begin to find another country where to invest their money as well.

When Thaksin sells something it's interesting to follow the money.

In any deals----rice-tablets-water management-BKK airport construction--name it always seems to be a twist in the tail.

That is what this thread is all about, was his and the selling of other assets---land deals- family-maid-butler-driver nanny who knows the list is perm any one from two.

Not related to the call to boycott Shinawatra-linked companies, my company has canceled over 150 AIS phone accounts in the last week. The reason: AIS is not company friendly. They don't offer online prepaid topup without going through a major submission of corporate documents (DTAC and True have online registration for their prepaid sim cards). It is also the result of AIS refusing to consolidate over 100 accounts into a single monthly invoice (yes, we receive 100 invoices from AIS each month in the mail). We switched to DTAC for our postpaid consolidation.

I have no sympathy for AIS. They deserve to lose the business.

and i guess in the same time the number of customers joining AIS will triple... yeah you know red shirt also use mobile phone... pointless article!

I don't think it's a pointless article at all. It demonstrates just how irrational Suthep and his followers have become. It also lays bare the myth that the middle class in Bangkok is 'educated'.

Just wonder how you know that these 700 additional AIS subscribers who wanted to change the provider are:

- middle Class

- from Bangkok

- educated

Seems to me that the educated people know that AIS belongs to Temasek and SingTel and would hardly want to change.

Is it possible that the non-educated low-class from outside Bangkok followed Suthep or would that totally destroy your prejudices?

Nobody wants to kill a goose who laids a golden eggs, Why do you want to kill to take the meat and not collecting golden eggs everyday, most owner selling off is to cover loses but since AIS from the day start it's making money for the owner and company, all the names of new board are to holding on nominees on behalf

The people are speaking through their pocket books. And the companies cannot but take notice. Last week, it was understandable if one was skeptical about the effects of such a boycott. Yet, within a week, the public response has been impressive. Consumerism is indeed a loud voice, and collectively can change the map of the consumer world.

Too bad innocent Thai share holders in this company may have to take losses for the actions of Suthep. Comments like this one above shows how much hate people have and is not even Thai.

Too bad innocent Thais and foreigners alike have had to and still are suffering losses for the actions of one Taksin Shinawatra. Comments like this one above show how too many have been brainwashed, are ignorant and still accept the damage done to this amazingly beautiful country by one sociopathic and ugly man. I wish him and his ilk nothing but quick oblivion.

Would you say shareholders in Monsanto are innocent? Where do you draw the line?

The reason i don't use AIS is because they cancel your number if you don't use it( it's about a month i think) After going away on business and twice AIS discontinuing my number i totally gave up on them.

Also their overseas calls are way higher than true's, compare the price and ask yourself why i would use AIS. True is way cheaper and much better quality.

Also i believe through front persons shares are held. Does no one remember how rich Mr T's driver and maid are?

Only problem is that none of those that committed the alledged crime has anything to do with AIS anymore, so the boycott hits the wrong people.

If you have a conflict with your neighbour, it is understandable if you go and damage his car or something similar. It makes no sense however, to damage a car he already sold to someone else 8 years ago.

I have AIS and I am very pleased with the service and the cost. I would not change just because someone believes it belong to Thaksin in the past.

Check the price compared to TRUE to call abroad? When you say cost what are you comparing it to?

If you go away how long will they give you before they switch of the number?

There are many reasons to leave AIS, take one look at there website and you can see it's all sizzle and no sausage.

Forget about Mr T i just think it's a crap company

I disagree with you. I had DTAC and there customer service sucked. Signal was bad and no one would try to help. As for True I wouldn't trust that company for anything basis on True Vision, that company is the worst customer service in Thailand, they lied to me and then called me a liar. If any place should have a protest it's True Company. Too bad Thaksin didn't own them,

Just to add my signal with AIS is great, I have no problem I had with DTAC.

These actions hit the share price of many Thaksin owned companies, not a bad thing

I would hardly think that a drop of a few percentage points in Thaksin owned companies is going to give him sleepless nights. If anything, he would be rubbing his hands with glee, knowing that he can pick up more shares at lower than normal market value. It is only a matter of time before business fundamentals will kick in and the shares will find their market value again.

If Suthep thinks that he can bring down listed public companies on the back of his supporters boycott, he is really not smart at all
