TM7 Extension of Stay - What kind of Visa?

Featured Replies

I am trying to complete a TM7, an application for extension of temporary stay in the Kingdom, to extend my retirement visa. Halfway down the first page it says "kind of visa". What should I put in this box?

What visa do you have ?

What entry visa did you last have? Not sure what you have now as long stay visa is non immigrant O-A but retirement one year stays from immigration are extensions of stay from a non immigrant visa entry. At some point you must have a non immigrant entry to extend for retirement and that visa is what you put in that area - even if you have extended for many years.

Probably non immigrant O.

It seems it must be non-immigrant O based on previous answers. Anyways, that is what I put on the form now.

You could always try looking in your passport to see which visa you were given. On the top line it states " Type of Visa" and below that it should be written non-immigrant O or non-immigrant O-A or whatever. When applying for an extension, one of the requirements will be a photocopy of the visa you used to enter Thailand, so you'll need to ferret it out at some point.

You're not extending the visa, you are (apparently) applying for an extension of stay which, if successful, would permit you to stay in Thailand (in the case of "retirement") for a year. At some point whatever visa you have will die, never to be extended or resurrected, but it is what got you into the country and used for reference on extension of stay applications.

I just write "Retirement"

I just write "Retirement"

That would be correct for the space where you enter the reason for the extension.

But it would not be correct for the type of visa entry you have because there is no visa called retirement.

Just writing non immigrant would be enough. It does no have to be a O class of visa. It could be a B, ED and etc.

To apply for Extension of stay: What is the minimum Time of non immigrant Visa i need?

There is no minimum time but it would be wise to apply within the last thirty days of your permitted stay date.

Then 3 month non immigrant is enough?

All you need is a 90 day entry from a non immigrant visa that you will then extend. It does not matter if it is from a single or multiple entry visa.

Thank you all
