NON B visa change to NON O visa

Featured Replies

HI All hope you can help as Im not clear what to do...

I'm a young 31 year old South African living and working in Thailand for over 7 years, always holding a NON B visa with WP, so now i've finished my work and so my WP will be cancelled which means my NON B visa will also be cancelled.

I'm married with my thai wife for over 5 years and we hold a thai registered wedding certificate + have one baby girl born in Thailand with birth certificate.

my question is,

1) what is the listed requirements to apply and obtain a NON O visa?

2) do i need to leave the country to be able to apply for a NON O visa?

(i've read that for the 1st application you can get a 90 day visa, and during the time you then can apply for the 1 year visa) also for the 90 day visa you do not need to provide proof that you have a fix amount of funds in a thai registered bank 400K)

thanks for any advice and help provided in advance

Do you really have a "Visa" or an extension of stay ?

The difference is important as a cancelled WP does not invalidate a visa.

This question is easily answered by looking to see what is in the passport.

Have you bee making 90 day address reports to immigration ?

When these questions have been answered focused advise can be provided !

HI

I have a Non B visa and permitted to stay up to 07 May 2014,

I've also been making my 90 day address report and next one is due 18 March 2014

Thanks

It is likely that you actually have an extension of stay based on work.

If that is the case the extension became invalid on the day you ceased work.

Can you scan and post what is in the passport?

if what I suspect is true then an overstay bill is mounting at 500bht/ day

Your situation needs an urgent solution.

You have an extension of stay based upon working (it is not a visa) which you could change to one based upon marriage to a Thai. You will need to show 400K baht in the bank for 60 days or have an income of 40k baht.

You can also apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife. You wife will need to go with you to immigration and will need your marriage certificate, wife's ID and house book and copies of your passport.

To do either of the above you will need a letter from your employer stating your final day of work is the date you go to immigration to apply for the extension.

i have been working and living in Thailand for over 10 years on a non b visa. recently i got married to my Thai girlfriend and want to change to a o visa ( marriage visa) the problem is a cant seem to get the correct answer for the right way to change over. in October i will have to go back to penang to renew my non b which is very costly and time consuming. i was told once i get my o visa i will no longer need to leave the country. my salary is over 40,000 a month.

what paper work do i need and how do i go about this ?

You can apply for an extension of stay based on marriage during the last 30 days of any of your 90 day entries.

To prove your income you will need tax payment receipts. Plus your work permit to prove you are working legally. I suggest you contact you local immigration office to find out what their requirements are because it can vary by office.

Your wife will need to go with you when you make the application.
