Campaign to prevent human trade will be stepped up in 8 eastern provinces

The Social Development and Human Security Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in saving victims of human trade with governors of 8 eastern provinces and Police Region 2.

Saisuree Jutikul (สายสุรี จุติกุล), chairman of the coordinating sub-committee on the prevention of women and children trafficking, said the 8 provinces are Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Trat, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Rayong and Sa Kaew.

Mrs. Saisuree said prevention operations will be tightened in Pattaya, where women and children can be forced into the sex industry, and Poi Pet and Koh Kong, where children are sold to be beggars.

She said a coordination center will be set up to receive complaints about human trade and help rehabilitate victims.
