We’re leaving late June(1 adult 2 kid’s). I’ve had good luck in the past with travelocitys “fare watcher program” but that seems to have dropped off for now :D . I’ve gotten R.T tickets for 675.00 from Seattle to BKK. I did check the search in the travel forum.

Any ideas help………………Thanks much G. :o

That's a good fare considering fuel prices. San Francisco, and LA are usually cheaper but only by $50 or so. If Seattle is closest then take it.

Sometimes Asiana and other Star Alliance members codeshare their flights and you wind up on a prop plane to Vancouver and a lay over there, so look at the itinerary closely when choosing if time is of essense.

gary and kids, What are your travel dates, approximately? Are you flexible within a few days either way?

UA has a pretty decent connection SEA-NRT-BKK, and a W fare from a consolidator should be $1,000.

Otherwise check the Eva and China Airlines websites directly.

If you can find a RT for $675 duirng the summer months I would grab it quickly. I have been unable to find anything close to that price online. I get much better quotes from the agents down in Chinatown (try AA travel) , but still nowhere near $675. Actually, I have gievn up on summer trips as paying for 4 adult fares is not in the cards these days.

By the way, all those listed prices under $1,000 on travelocity were for travel beginning in September after school begins again in the US. Online prices for summer travel to BKK have been well over $1,000 for months now.

try kayak.com. great site

No different, lowest prices about $1500. Only hope for reasonable air fares this summer from west coast is your local Chinatown consolidator who may have some cancellations. There are a few seats left during July, but June and August are prettty much booked up. This is the downside of the ever increasing number of mixed Asian-Farang families all trying to visit during the summer while school is out combined with the decrease in trans-pacific seats.

If your kids are young there is no harm in taking them out of school for a few weeks at other times. We use to depart in mid to late November and return early January. But once kids hit middle school/ Jr Hi age that is no longer a simple option.

I heartily recommend trying Best Travel Store, an online consolidator. Excellent service, often has the best price, no problems with using their tickets. The ticketing will be different than going directly through the airlines but you can still get frequent flyer miles if using your usual airline.

If you're looking for a cheap booking site within Asia, mostly out of Hong Kong try

www,travelsexpert.com

I have used them and saved a fortune. I flew from Singapore to Hong Kong round trip on United and it cost me $540 US when in Hong Kong I found this site (above) and flew on another ticket from Hong Kong to Singapore on United round trip for $140 US. Same plane same destination. I found out that they are consulidators and get rid of tickets out of HK really cheap. All flights include earning miles, and bonuses.

Robert
