The Thai Government donates 100,000 US dollars and rice for people affected by earthquakes in Indonesia

The Thai Government will donate a 100,000-US dollar cash and 1,000 tonnes of rice for the rehabilitation of people in earthquake-struck Indonesia.

Government Spokesperson Surapong Suebwonglee said Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has sent condolences to the Indonesian leader for the massive loss of lives and property in Indonesia as a result of the earthquake on May 27th.

The first lot of 30 tonnes of the donated rice will be airlifted to Indonesia on June 2nd while the second lot of 970 tonnes will be shipped out on June 3rd.

Meanwhile, Supreme Commander Ruangroj Mahasaranond (เรืองโรจน์ มหาศรานนท์) said a 48-strong medical team belonging to the three Thai armed services is leaving for Indonesia today. They are scheduled to initially stay in Indonesia for 10 days to provide medical assistance to affected people.
