“Cement Splash” from 50-storey Pattaya Bay Condominium angers boat operators

PATTAYA:--Boat Operators at the Bali Hai Port in South Pattaya are frustrated at the lack of assistance from the Pattaya Authorities relating to cement splash coming from a 50-storey condominium which is currently under construction at the southern-end of Pattaya Beach behind the Bali Hai Port.

Approximately 50 boats have been affected by the splash from cement which is being lifted up to high floors by cranes. Khun Sakchai is one of the boat owners and is frustrated at the lack of assistance he has received after making many complaints via the Pattaya City Call Center.

He now hopes that by highlighting the problem in the local media the Pattaya Mayor of Chief or Banglamung District will become involved and ensure a fair solution is reached between the construction company and boat owners.

Couldn't they just make some kind of temporary awnings from canvas or something to cover the boats?blink.png

Or better still move the boats, take them home until the building is finished w00t.gif or is that too hard.

Can't they take a leaf from their jet-ski brethren and confront and demand from Mr. Big Developer that he pay 20-30 times whatever damage a few cement splatters may have caused to their boats...or does that only work with humble tourists and that when they suffer damage from a connected Thai/farang, they just cower in fear like little girls.

Why should they ? The contractor has a responsibility to ensure no damages around the site.

Or move the boats to the new marina that's been sitting finished for more than a year. The seafront from Bali Hai to the lighthouse should be a pleasant seafront stroll, not an eyesore of oil slicks, garbage, broken down tractors, feral dogs and broken paving slabs.

Maybe they are trying to pursued the boat owners to move, the Thai way... coffee1.gif
