Hi all,

I have a question relating to my ed-visa but more importantly the purchase of a single re-entry visa.

I am currently on an ed-visa that gets extended for 90 days each time this time period is close to expiring. I get my paper work from my school and as long as all is in order I pay my 1900 baht and the ed-visa is just extended for another 90 days. To apply for a multiple re-entry during this time for me would be useless as I don't ever see myself leaving Thailand multiple times during a 90 day period.

My question then is related to a single re-entry and its dated time frame.

Can I apply for this single re-entry and have it contained in my passport to use at anytime during my 90 days or do I need to stipulate an actual date of travel to immigration for it to be of any use?

The reason I ask is that I have an ill family member that could see me need to return home at anytime if I get a phone call. I would like to know whether I would have to waste what could be precious time running to immigration first before I could book a flights ticket or if I had it already in play, I could just book and go?

I appreciate that at anytime I must be back in Thailand before any of my 90 days expire otherwise I would need to reapply to the school and complete the whole process again to obtain my ed-visa.

I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

A single re-entry permit would be valid for the length of your 90 day extension. The dates you put on the application mean nothing.

If you are in flying out of Bangkok you can get a re-entry permit at both airports 24 hours a day on the way out of the country.
