NACC reveals timeline for PM Yingluck's indictment

webfact

This will further fracture Thailand. Don't they know that by now?

If indicted and formally charged, it will create some discount...not doubt.

BUT....it's a start, and it has to start somewhere...the smaller guys will get their turns hopefully in the not too distant future.

To start at the top of the pecking order isn't such a bad thing....IMO

I reckon she is hoping she will be banned from politics for 5 years

If she is impeached by the Senate, she will be removed permanently from office and red carded for 5 years. That's the parliamentary side of things but the NACC is obliged to submit the case to the A-G for prosecution at the same time. If the A-G finds no case to hear it goes to a joint committee of the A-G and the NACC. If they still can't agree, the NACC may prosecute the case by itself in the Supreme Court for political office holders from which there is no appeal to a higher court because it is already the highest court.

She will care a lot more about the criminal prosecution.

"Meanwhile, the pro-government People Radio for Democracy (PRD) is set to petition the NACC today over the rush to indict Prime Minister on the pledging case. The group urged the NACC to formally proceed with their charges against Ms Yingluck after a new government has been formed and results of the past election announced."

Why should they wait?

A 5 year ban from politics must surely have her shaking in her boots.

And another good reason for broad reforms before the next election.

These five year bans are no deterrent at all, they should be lifetime political bans IMO.

Bring in Judge Judy, 30 days 12 hours a day, next please---next please until she has tried the lot. Keep it straight and simple--to the point. right or wrong.

End of story.

I for one is sick to death of all the B/S. When it is looking at you in the face people talk themselves into believing they are innocent. Sick is the only word that fits these politicians (so called) and all their followers, Get them sent down.

Now some are saying it's not right as the court is biased, If these said people were not involved they would not be facing the judge.

Don't really understand most of your post, but I must agree Judge Judy over here dealing with the pols would be awesome.

MoR. What do you not understand re most of my post.

The denial of the politicians and followers, and the blaming of anything that comes to mind.

When involved in governing you are aware of what is happening, if not you should not be there in the first place, or removed.

Funded projects etc., in government are followed through -transparency and sustainability the keys. If you hold the top position YOU are responsible for the observation and the seeing through of it. You are accountable and should be aware from the onset.

It is ridiculous to say at the end of the day IT WASN'T ME. it was that--or him-or.

No no. 10 year bans better so the ones who run away and sit out the expiry of the statute of limitations can come back and go straight back into the trough of corruption to do it all again a-la Chalerm.

Of course in a Democracy people would never vote these people who run away to avoid conviction back into politics via a vote - but here in this super intelligent and advanced society that has never been colon used - such trifling matters as huge corruption and destruction of the country's economy are a bar to no Thai politician!

Well, it's good that it won't be 'Trail by Jury' ... I doubt you'd find 12 impartial people in Thailand

It seems that since YL became PM, there's only Red and Yellow .. no Orange to be seen

What about trial by POSTERS ?? random or computer selection. Why shouldn't that be fair, posters have nothing to lose--they only learn by what they see hear etc. would be interestingrolleyes.gif

If this will go as the "big brother's passport' issue, a week after the 15th of March Ms. Yingluck will state to have been too busy with running the country (into ruin) to find time to submit additional evidence she didn't do anything. Her team of legal representatives are formally asking for an anti-dated postponement. The NAAC will say 'no' and Pheu Thai members and red-shirts will talk about double standards, throw the odd grenade and a new generation of TV members will come forward to defend the Isaan darling.

IMHO, that is biggrin.png

Sadly I have to say I think it will be like this. She will simply ignore the NACC as she has done the Ombudsman.

The DSI are never going to investigate her, the rice scam, any Shin clan member or anyone else unless the big boss o k's it.

The 30 days caretaker government will be over this week - again she will ignore it and simply continue as she is told to do so. PTP will spin things to say they must keep the caretaker role for the good of the country blah, blah, blah.

UN will be stupid enough to support them and clowns "reporting" in the foreign press will continue to speak of them as though they are the embattled champions of the people and democracy without mentioning all the corruption and attempts to stifle free speech and parliamentary process.

Wonder if all those unpaid and repeatedly lied to farmers will ever wake up?

I would like to see yingluck step down as well and have a real election. Anyone applauding a judicial coup, however, is applauding a further fractured Thailand. At some point the yellows will have to come to terms that their countrymen to the north are here to stay and also outnumber them. Also, it just might be that the red shirt movement is bigger than the shins

I see it different. The Shins AND the Red movement are smaller (but more violent) than you think.

You are being quite presumptious as i never conmented on the red shirt capability of violence.

As far as red shirt support goes, i guess it remains to be seen

I'm sure if they actually had a case against Yingluck that could stand even the slightest amount of independent scrutiny details would have leaked. This is another ridiculous attempt at a judicial coup which will again fail. In fact it's so obvious that another coup wont be tolerated that I would not be surprised if the court actually abandons its frivilous plans and acquits the pretty lady, much the same way they rejected the Democrats bid to have the Feb 2 election tossed out. Suthep has gone all in on the verdict going his way - when it doesn't the jig is up for him. 13 - 15 of March is to be victory day for the constitution, the rule of law, Ms Yingluck, truth, justice and the American way.

<deleted> has this got to do with the 'American way'?

Just thinking / speaking in this society that this could even look like a Judicial Coup

is frowned upon. Though how many beleive it is and only do not speak up because of fear that has been taught

since they were children. To think that these judges are somewhat impartial in their verdicts

is insane. All of these judges belong to a certain class of highly sensitive human topics!

Oh, goody, another judicial coup. The yellow shirt judges will do in one day what Suthep couldn't do in months. Democracy is just about a lost cause in Thailand.

just for your information the NACC is the National Anti-Corruption Commission. The commission which the Yingluck government with their special attention for corruption really favours and uses to the outside world as example to show how Thailand wants to have corruption tackled.

Mind you, that might have been before the Yingluck government tried to push through a blanket amnesty bill which also suddenly covered her brothers last two years in/out of office and her own two years in office. No one has come forward yet to try to explain to me why the coverage period was extended, nor why Ms. Yingluck's fine government needed to be covered as well.

One Shin in, one Shin out,

Do the hokey-cokey, taking turns about.

There is no point delaying the findings, unless, of course you WANT a proven corrupt and incompetent PM (if found guilty). This is not a vote for the dems, it is a statement against corruption.

No'p,, I wonder if the NACC are following orders, and would it be the first time they did???

I wonder how many have complained about the judicial system here and that if the right influences are applied then almost any outcome is possible in the land of smiles, just like the elderly couple jailed for 15 years for picking mushrooms (any updates on this???) or the Red Bull cop killer can go on holidays, and a well connected young lady can run a mini bus off the toll way and kill 9 people and how many years in jail??? yeah the courts and justice seem to really have NOthing in common here1zgarz5.gif

BUT yes the is a hell of a lot of corruption in the rice gig, now how about charging the ones who put the money in their pockets first...

What's wrong by charging the ones that set up the scheme in such a way that maximum corruption can be achieved?

Go after the people that put the money in their pockets, that would be the corruption which is a criminal act in Thailand, isn't that the job of the NACC???

As far as my limited knowledge of Thai law, allegedly being negligent of duty is not being corrupt, is it??? I guess that's why the worst case scenario for YL is that she is sacked and banned from politics for 5 years, So just what is Suthep's worst case scenario I wonder when he finally faces charges???

Have you ever heard of criminal negligence? It is possible that she will be charged in criminal courts as well.

Plus the Yingluck government has done more to make it natural for her supporters to talk about 'judicial coups'. Too many nice schemes blocked by those d_mned checks and balances, even reducing budgets for independent organisations didn't help. Imagine rolleyes.gif

Finally!!! What took them so long!!!

Agree, plus:

- Where is she? Why is the pm not visible in activities and public comments relating to the serious problems the country is facing? The only time she's seen is for photo ops which could be seen as electioneering.

- What's happening in regard to the farmers who have been waiting for 6 months and more for their payouts? Payment was promised (again) for late last week. Virtually nothing happened, what's the story?

- Why have the unpaid distraught farmers gone very quiet? Something smelly going on here.

Guess you missed it, the farmers have started to be payed, I think a start of 712 million to some 3,000- 4,000 farmers?

That leaves about 139.3 billion baht and 1.397 million farmers to go!

This appears to be railroading one case and ignoring many.

This is a special case unless you hadn't noticed but Thailand is spiraling out of control while the government has completely thrown in the towel.

Of course they need to apply speed to this case, are you stupid or what?

The frying pan has burst into flames, but it will have to wait until I finish washing the dishes.

You'd fit right in with the band on the Titanic - just keep on playing as the ship (i.e. your losing cause) sinks. The wise ones have already made for the life rafts - distancing themselves from the pathetic mess they've created. Even Suthep is edging towards the door - looks like he's going to leave the 6 wheelchair grannies to face the music alone.

Your six wheelchair grannies (and 3 fake farmers) seem to have morphed into several thousand supporters over the last 2 nights, in case you can't get Blue Sky TV under your particular bridge. Of course Suthep is winding down a bit. He has been on the go for 4 months and must be feeling the strain. He has been working a damn sight harder than your precious heroine Caretaker PM. His job is nearly done. He has kept up the impetus until the constitutional safeguards kicked in and got rolling. He now has a capable team to roll on and keep the message out there. He has worked very hard and very selflessly for the greater good of all Thai's. Pretty much the opposite of your precious Democratically Elected Government has been doing. Oh, there i am stating the obvious again. .

I thought one of those two entities owned the other. I think the reds started independent and the shins bought most (but hopefully not all) of them

I finally get the chance to make a Hitler reference.

Not a ridiculous one comparing any present day person with Hitlers' evilness. Uh uh.

As the Russian tanks rolled into town old mate Adolf was down in his bunker still giving orders to long lost battalions and thinking of victory.

Giving insane commands to imaginary troops he reached what would be the pinnacle of individual delusion in the history of mankind, a record he would hold for nearly 69 years only to be knocked of his perch by TV forum poster THE DEERHUNTER.

Congrats.

OH,,, she (YL) set up the scheme did she??? I think you might just want to check that, I believe she was chair over it? but that's not corruption now is it?

and so to not doing a good job of chairing a board is not corruption is it?

But wait there's more, the writers of the scheme have they any charges to face? Or are the people the set up the scheme are they corrupt?

how about the people that pocketed the cash, AAAHHHHhh, THEY would be the corrupt one's yeah, cool Go ahead charge em and jail emwhistling.gif

The only thing you didn't say is "and she is so sweet & pretty that she just must be a nice person who got tricked into this." She did. By her brother, not some faceless rice-scheme architects you can't name. She must have known damn well what was going on and that is why she never attended meetings, (Brother probably advise that too, as an alibi for her.)
