BANGKOK: -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is investigating whether the anti-government protesters who blew whistles at ex-wife of fugitive premier Thaksin Shinawatra at a Bangkok shopping centre last week violated her human rights.

Protest leader Taya Teepsuwan and her husband, former Democrat MP Nataphol, blew whistles at Khunying Potjaman Na Pombejra last week.

NHRC chairwoman Amara Pongsapich said a subcommittee of the body was investigating the matter.

Amara said if the probe showed Taya and Nataphol violated Pojaman's rights, they would be prosecuted.

Meanwhile, police say a suspect has been identified over the shooting up of the Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, home of Taya's mother, Khunying Sasima Srivikorn, early Saturday morning while Khunying Sasima was home.

The incident took place shortly after Taya and her husband blew whistles at Khunying Pojaman. Nakhon Ratchasima police commander Colonel Pongdej Phromijit said police were waiting for a court-approved arrest warrant before arresting a suspect.

Perhaps the human rights should try and find out from DSI why the investigation to one of their lawyers who has been missing for years , come to think of it I think during Thaskin Shinawatra's term in power, is taking so long to reach a conclusion , who care's about Pojaman the only thing she suffered was ringing ears.as she left in the Merc.bah.gif This is a police matter and she must report the incidence , has she???

You might as well say it is a violation of human rights to whistle at a pretty woman.

Are you suggesting that the ex-Mrs T is a pretty woman...?!

Heheee! Not at all. Only that it seems silly it would br thought of as a human rights violation. Basically this commitee for human rights is trying to make a case simply on blowing a whistle. It could be considered the same as whistling at a beautiful or sexy woman... imagine all the men who would be arrested for this violation across the world

Where was the human rights commission whe red shirts were throwing stones, bottles, nuts and bolts at democratic political rallies? What about the human rights of the innocent children killed while helping their grandmother wash dishes in the marketplace when red thugs attacked with grenades and automatic weapons? Don't blow whistles at rich people, your mothers house will be shot-up and you will be sued, utter crap.

Here we go again. Where is your evidence that red shirts carried out the atrocity in Trat?.

On the other matters, clearly you are disillusioned with life in the Kingdom. Taxi - Airport - go.

I would imagine that those in the NHRC office who have been told to investigate this, probably taken off other more importent cases, would be absolutely disgusted.

Unless of course they are rabid reds specially chosen for the job.

Is that the most important human right that has been violated in this country ?

A multibillionaire having a whistle blown at her.

If that is where the NHRC is going to concentrate their efforts, spend their budget, then it is them who need probing.

What the personal financial status of a person has to do with having more or less human rights?

Being an ex-wife is reason enough to harass and violate her rights?

Human rights are to be upheld for every person be it a yellow, red shirt or an alleged student camping for months on the streets protesting.

Furthermore, if a yellow or red shirt were to violate the humans rights of a Farang would that be justifiable?

Unless one is vapid enough to defend any actions of a yellow shirt, PDRC and/or so called students.

Thailand is falling apart politically and all they are worried about is someone blowing a whistle at some hi so bint

The next security guard who blows a whistle at me while parking my car is going to be arrested for human rights violations I will make sure of it, a life sentence at the Bangkok Hilton

yes, Thailand must be very lucky....this is the only human right violation in Thailand. Every other problem is already fixed.

Only insults to corrupt multibillionaire ears is the last open issue cheesy.gif.pagespeed.ce.HaOxm9--Zv.gif

The right of corruption without opposition is one of the most important rights (in Thailand)

being an "ex"-wife is not a reason. But corruption and making corrupt politics from behind is a reason.

Agree - everyone's human rights should be respected and their personal wealth ought not to be a factor. Rich elite people like the ex Mrs T should not have more or less human rights than anyone else.

Interesting how quickly the NHRC has picked this case up isn't it? They must be under worked or very over staffed.

Everyone here is clearly pointing out that there are far more violations of human rights cases which are far more urgent and important going on in this country. Real violations that are causing death, kidnappings, human trafficking, misery and a lot more aside.

The fact that you seem to think she is entitled to have resources transferred to her case is appropriate, just underlines that you are pathetic.

What happened to her is not worthy of using these valuable resources, the other cases are far more deserving. If she has the credence to an investigation, she will have to go on the waiting list...... oh hang on, she is on the top of the waiting list now.... So that is an abuse of position in my book, just like everything else linked to a Shinawatra.
