Termite

Right behind my perimeter wall is an old mango tree which I despise for long time already as it is a nest of ants, spiders and whatever other vermin. A few branches of the tree reach over my wall and contact with palm trees on my property, thereby making a bridge for all the unwanted insects to my property.

Recently theu cleaned up the land, and when watching over the wall I saw something I didn't really like, and am afraid of that it is a termite nest.

I took some pictures which I will post here, if someone can confirm to me that it is indeed a termite nest and how to get rid of it.post-197648-0-36298800-1393913103_thumb.post-197648-0-71988000-1393913105_thumb.post-197648-0-13888900-1393913108_thumb.

certainly looks like one, we have the same behind our house. Get someone to break it up and spray poison in and around it(or fumigating it), they go very deep in the earth and go quite some distance as well. You could also try setting baits set for it in the hope that they are taken deep in the nest and kill off the queen etc.

Rather than using poisons that might end up in your well water supply, why not hire a local to shovel it out. We have done that a few times for mounds that appear and they never come back in the same place. Termites are the most pervasive species on earth, and you will not get rid of them for long with poison.

The problem is that the tree is not on my property, so the owner may disagree with me shoveling or digging on his land. However I can pee on it unseen from the top of my wall, just to say. What kind of chemical would be advised ?

If he's not wealthy, offer the owner B500 to take care of it, with another B500 to be paid when the job's done.

They may relocate to your land, in which case you have the right to poison yourself.

assuming your cock is attached to the rest of your body ,id say a farang pissing would be more larger and more visible than some

termites under a tree ,,,but YMMV

It turns out to be big red ants ?

How about knocking a hole in it with a water pipe, from on top of the wall as I noticed those devils are very aggressive, then pouring some gasoline inside and drop my cigarette .

Would that do the trick ?

drop a match ,a cigarette often wont ignite gas like a naked flame will

maybe check how your neighbour feels before setting his tree on fire

You think that would set the tree on fire, or would the fire contain itself underground. Note that I said knocking a hole in it with a pipe and pouring gasoline in the hole.

For sure if the tree burns down my neighbor not gonna be a happy chappy.

probably not but it depends how much gas you use , this is not the rainy season

id keep a hose ready in case the flames start going up the tree

just for safety and to stay on the good side of your neighbours

have you considered asking him ? he might think its a good idea

and either burn it himself or at least give you his blessing to burn it ?

The problem with asking him is that I don't speak enough Thai for that, and even then my Thai constructor had issues understanding him.

Well then you haven't got enough Thai to get yourself out of the jam you'll be in.

Shouldn't you try to fix that problem first?

And <deleted> is a Thai constructor?

Listen if its red ant then gasoline will kill them with no fire. I used this in south carolina just pour some in the middle of the pile and in a day they will be gone. We used gasoline because it was cheap...

Thanks for the advice, should I break a hole in it or just pour it on top ?

Doesn't look like a termite mound. Throw an a rock at it and see what comes out.

May I invite you to throw the rock, while I look at a safe distance ? biggrin.png

we had a big hornets nest on the 6th floor balcony ceiling once ,giant big black scary looking wasps

me and my friend smacked it with a golf club and knocked it down (it was a bit bigger than a basketball )

we had to run like hell to avoid the attacking ones but they relocated and as far as i know didnt try to build

again in the same site

a couple of years later they started to build in the ground floor window of my house

i had a big tin of cockroach killing spray so i sprayed that all over the nest and then set it on fire

they didnt come back either

I got rid of a bees' nest that was inside a compost heap using gasoline - it was the local council's 'approved' method.

I thought they were going to tell me to set it on fire, but they said just cover it with an old cloth and the bees will suffocate.

It worked, but don't know if it'll work with termites, though.

However, for many weeks afterwards, bees would hover over the grass where the compost heap had been, looking for their home. Quite sad, really. sad.png
