Group issues statement saying Thai govt is illegitimate

"It is inevitable to suspect that the government is linked with these attacks.'' Wow that's enough proof for me! Not really but many a dictator has used that line of logic to suppress opposition; no evidence needed, just suspicions. Maybe this group has listened to Suthep's speeches a few too many times.

If I had a penny for every time the Nation had printed opinion as fact over Yingluck I would be a very very rich man.

This is a scathing statement. It is also correct - on every point - but particularly on one - as of today, the Yingluck administration's caretaker status ended - as per the constitution. Article 7 now takes effect. This is now a past administration. They have no constitutional argument to remain in power.

If I had a baht for every exaggeration, lie and nonsense article from Khaosod then I would be richer than Thaksin!!!!

...and these people call themselves 'academics'! Their analysis is pathetic and childlike. Their opposition to the rice scheme is a political position - so form a party and fight elections. Farmers committed suicide because the forces of the Ruling Elite ganged up on the government to prevent them borrowing the requisite funds to pay them.

It is totally unproven - and very unlikely that the government had anything to do with attacking peaceful demonstrators. It is very likely that the forces controlling the protesters fired on their own people in the Sukhumvit attack and on camera that they lobbed a grenade and fired weapons in the most recent skirmish. In any event, occupying government ministries for weeks on end cannot be described as peaceful protest, but as insurrection.

The Feb 2nd elections are incomplete because the EC refuse to hold them and the PDRC would attempt to disrupt them.

No wonder Thailands universities have such an appallingly poor international reputation and allegations of buying places and degrees persist. This group should put their own house in order before criticising others.

you are spreading false rumours!

When did the "GOVERNMENT" seek to divide the country. There have been a couple of supporters seeking that but not the government.

Maybe guilt by association? Aren't Jatuporn et Co. still party statesmen and elder reds?

This is a telling statement about how Thai academics are viewed by their international colleagues:

"As for the academics, deep down no-one takes them seriously, except the royalist media – which again displays their real weakness. People are just being “polite” by going through the ritual of pretending to listen to them. That’s why the spectacle of University Presidents and Deans of Medical Schools coming out to support Suthep’s movement is much less significant than it appears."

The Nation is, of course, part of the royalist media.

And the BKK Post isn't because Thaksin had their chief editor fired for reporting bad things about him?

Shame it's not really a laughing matter but good to see that these groups can maintain a sense of humour.

So this group may not be the People's front of Judea, or the Judean peoples front or even the popular front of Judea but it's still wonderful that any group can still shout out 'SPLITTERS' and get national news time.

How much exactly do we like freedom of speech? - 'A lot'

As I said in reply to another poster. I stand corrected. He told me that the government wants to split the country in two. He is an inside man who knows what is going on. I can't argue with him or anyone else.

A couple of supports include government ministers and leaders of the PT, UDD and Yingluck was greeting the supporters in Chiang Rai who were wearing headbands supporting division.

So let me take some ear drops again……….

I'm guessing this is the same NIDA that is responsible for what is widely considered grossly unreliable and one eyed polling? And I've searched the article to find their mandate to make such statements. Maybe I missed it.

Nothing new here, move on ....

But absolutely correct assessment of this government all the same.

Biased, corrupt and a danger to the kingdom of Thailand from one end to the other.

Everywhere you turn now... death throes of all the acronym groups of the right wing lunatic fringe.

Someone should do these groups a favour and euthanise the lot.

The statement said the Yingluck Shinawatra administration had lost its status as a caretaker government because of its failed schemes and unlawful acts.

PTP are like an anchor chained to the ankle of this nation, slowing down essential progress and dragging all this pointless baggage along with it. When Yingluck hoved into view, this nation had a pressing list of urgent infrastructure work and regulatory overhauls that needed to be focused on. Work she assured us was a top priority for her. Instead we saw passports-for-crims, rice pledging failure and the immortal kids-tabs project. This party is not just corrupt, nor is it just slow to implement critical reforms, it is actually holding those reforms back by its inaction and obstinacy.

Don't forget the My 1st Car scheme which increase traffic exponentially and has now led to a high level of financial distress amongst buyers unable to keep up with their installments, banks dealing with bad loans and car dealers, whose business has dried up due to the disruption. Another total disaster that wreaked damage on the economy, society and the environment. Thaksin thinks, PT blunders.

Their mandate is "Freedom of Speech". Much like the mandate you have to make your statement.

Ive only ever read it on here, so its an electronic thingamabob that you can't even wrap chips with.

Great…So I can add Khaosod to the long list of entities that disagree with the PTP then? Cheers.

Khaosod AND the World bank, Moody's, UNHCR, Human Rights Watch, the Environmentalists, the corn farmer, rubber farmers, rice farmers, medical association, rural teachers, academics, Supa, global economists, IMF, private banks, GSB, the EC, AoT, the courts, military, bangkok middle class, business owner, state enterprise staff, Buddhist monks, civil servants, labor unions, Green Politics group, Thai Constitution Protection Association, The Thai press, NIDA poll and Bangkok Poll.

That broad section of the population that disagree with the regime is growing….
