hi guys,

I just scored a tourist visa for my girl to go with me back for a summer (July) holiday [sWEET]. I only had to have my genetic code photocopied and a very internal organs inspected. Haha... actually it was easier then I expected.

I was thinking of doing a short drive up to Montreal, but I don't know how the visa thing works, and the website isn't entirely clear. Obviously she'd need a Canadian tourist visa to go with the US one. But would she be able to go back to the States under her old tourist visa, or would we need to apply for a new one? Any ideas of costs of the visa? (the Canadian embassy website is currently down)

Thanks much

Depends on her US Tourist Visa, if it says multi entry then she can return to the US, of course she has to satisfy the Border Officer that she is still a genuine visitor everything she enters the US.

Not sure about the Canadian Visa, but I would have thought that there would be a similar level of evidence required as that for her US Visa.

Amazing… Tourist visa seem impossible to get to the US. What did you say to the embassy to enable you to take her with you? I'm very interested because I am trying to get to do the same thing. Thanks in advance.

Her job was really helpful. They put a signed and stamped letter on their letterhead stating her salary and the length of summer vacation, as well as that she was expected to return to teach in August. Her work-permit helped as well. God knows I put tons of other documents there, including ones about my situation and our relationship, but apparently it wasn't looked at. My advice: don't be too stressed out about the horror stories here. Prove a decent income and you're golden.
