I have a retired VISA, for one year expiring on March 15, but on my usual 90-day visit to the Immigration I got a "Receipt of Notification" to 11 May with a handwritten note "11 5)
Can I go with this to Laos and get the usual 90 days (or 11 May)?
This time I thought I should arrange my Retired VISA myself, but my Thai wife says I can get in trouble if I just show a certificate from the embassy that I have the needed 800 000 Baht in pension, because I don´t get it via a Thai Bank but withdraw from my bank account using ATM.
Then she say that the Immigration (Phitsanulok) can refuse to accept and put a little "comment" in my passport so for example even Pattaya can give problems?

If it works with the VISA run to Lao should I wait to get my new passport at the embassy until after the VISA run? Guess embassy punch a hole in the old and passport and Immigration in at Lao can become a problem? My old passport expires in December this year so for a 1 year Retired VISA I need the new one.

Thank´s in advance

Do you have an extension of stay from immigration in Thailand for 1 year or do you have a multiple entry visa?

The difference is the stamp in your passport, that tells you for how long you can stay in Thailand.

There is no requirement to recieve the income in Thailand. Showing a bankbook or some recent ATM slips indicating you have money to spend can be useful, if asked for it. So you can apply for a 1 year etension of stay.

However, the income requirement is 65,000 a month, not 800,000 a year. (But you can use a combination of yealry income and money in the bank in Thailand, in which case the total must be 800,000 OR simply show 800,000 baht in a bankaccount in Thailand for 3 months).

You can not travel on an invalidated passport. So if you want to go abroad and get a new visa you should do it with this paspsort and after you have the visa and return to Thailand get a new passport.

Sorry that is difficult to understand . What "visa" is being discussed.

If this "visa" was obtained in Thailand it is likely to be an extension of stay !

An extension of stay based on retirement is very easy to obtain

The financial requirements are

1- 800,000 bht in the bank OR

2. 65,000 bht a month income certified by your Embassy OR

3. A combination of 1+2 totalling 800,000 bht

You saying you got a receipt for your 90 day report indicates that you have an extension of stay. That date on that does not change the date you do your extension which appears to be March 15th.

You just need to get the income letter stating you have an income equal to 65k baht in your home countries currency. If you that want proof you are bringing money into the country the ATM receipts or a bank statement from the bank in your home country is enough.

There is no need to go to Laos.

Hi The Donkey here. Thank´s allot for replies to my post and................ I guess it must be an extension of stay and the 65/800 are before or after tax? But back to my original question. If I have an extension expiring the 15 Mars, can I get 90 days more in Lao? I¨m asking because my lovely wife is scared that Imigration in Phitsanulok will create problems (coffee money) and want to go to Pattaya after the 15th (Just checked, at 4.8 for the Baht I have 63208 Baht a month after tax facepalm.gif )

The 65K baht is gross before any deductions for tax and etc. You will have to get the letter from your embassy.

The 800k baht is only for the money in the bank for 90 days option.

You could go the Thai embassy in Vientiane and apply for a single entry non-o visa that would give you a 90 day entry.

If you are legally married to your Thai wife you could get a 60 day extension at immigration to visit your her to give you time to sort things out.

You can also get an extension based on marriage that only requires 40k baht income.

Your income will be quoted gross by the Embassy.

You may be able to get a 90 day "non o" visa or a tourist visa in Laos but to what purpose ------you would then lose the possibility of renewing your extension.

You could also ask the immigration office for a 60 day extension to visit your wife.

Just as a matter of interest which country has an exchange rate of 4.8 to the baht ?

Hmmm , I thought I left a reply but No! Anyhow Swedish crown is at 5.1 when you check exchane rates, but when you hit the ATM it´s down to 4.7 - 4.8. And then after a couple of hours they withdraw 500 to 1000 Baht to be sure the bank don´t go into bankrupcy ....

At today's exchange of rate of 4.84 (buying rate) you would need about 13,500 krona to have 65,000 baht. Immigration uses the bank rates here not the ATM rate. The 5.1 rate you mentioned is the selling rate for changing baht to krona.
