Nah, the buses are perfectly safe. What's dangerous is how the bends keep suddenly leaping out in front of them.

sam sen
the tragically sad thing is that thai people accept these seemingly weekly and often fatal school and passenger bus crashes as something normal and no one does anything to prevent the crashes and unnecessary deaths and injuries continuing.
neverdie
It's never ending. The bus driver lost control because of speeding not because of a sharp curve. No doubt Mango Bod you are speaking with dozens of years experience as a collision re-constructionist or perhaps you were there?Perhaps there was a mechanical failure? Perhaps fatigue was a factor? Perhaps the driver was under the influence of an intoxicating substance? Perhaps someone interfered with the controls of the bus as it entered the bend? Perhaps something was spilled onto the road surface immediately prior to the bus reaching the bend? Perhaps the driver of the bus suffered from a medical emergency just prior to the bus leaving the road? Attempted suicide? Maybe it wasn't speed related. Popular Post moonseeker
I was helping a friend launch his boat on a Jomtien Beach ramp not long ago. Early morning: Next to the ramp were parked about 6 large buses, drivers and attendants sitting on the seawall having some food for breakfast and we counted 5 large beer bottles. Music was blaring and party-time early morning. We did not believe our eyes. All possible due to ZERO law-enforcement and an attitude of NO-RESPECT and NO EDUCATION. Jeremy50
I have driven this beautiful road about 100 times. It has a lot of bends which would only cause a problem if the vehicle was speeding, or trying to overtake. It is the main route between Phitsanulok and Loie. leggo
You are all wrong! It is obvious that the driver was either taking a selfie or doing his hair while swigging red bull (they all know that if you're on red bull you can't be prosecuted!!!) Honestly this country needs to wake up. Popular Post lovetotravel
My wife was watching an interview on TV with the owner of the bus that crashed and killed all those children. She's already closed down the company, setup a new one, and blames everybody but herself for the problems. Saying people should understand how hard it is to run a bus company and that parents should research the bus company for safety issues before putting their kids on buses. She blames the driver, even though we know he wasn't licensed. She blames the brakes, the road, etc. Crazy. Typical Thai style. Blame everybody and everything else but yourself. We spoke with a Thai neighbor, and they said they felt sorry for the bus owner. We asked "what about the children"? The reply was basically, oh yes, but it wasn't the owners fault. Until there are severe repercussions, things won't change.
Yunla
My prayers are with the injured and their families, in this tragic accident. I hope the injured are able to recover both physically and emotionally from this terrible ordeal. Another very sad story from the roads here, we should be used to it in some way, and yet it is just as deeply upsetting every time. Nothing to do except pray the injured are not suffering too much, and their families have a good support network to help them through.
socksy01
And so it goes on. Nothing to do with the road's curves - either a mechanical problem or driver error. I rest my case your honour.

Popular Post kurnell
I was overtaken by a bus from the international school that my kids attend (on the inside) and the bus then overtook everything in sight and disappeared into the distance. I contacted the school and the farang in charge of the buses told me that while undertaking is not common in western countries, it happens in Thailand (great excuse for unsafe driving practices) and he didn't touch on the fact that the guy was speeding, but did say they were reviewing driving practices. If I see one of their buses driving dangerously again, I will take my 2 kids out of the school and myself and my wife will tell all the kid's parents why we did it.
Lupatria
Wonder that the driver is not aware of the common procedure using the magic word describing most other accidents: "brake malfunction!" Case closed.
seajae
didnt the govt department call for action after the last school bus crash so this wouldnt happen again, really seems what they say and what they do are two totally different things, but then TIT.
