I have a question and wonder if anyone else has had similar experiences.

My thai fiancé is a little darker in colour and when we go out even just walking in the streets in bkk we seem to draw a lot of strange looks from thai males & females. They mainly look at her in a sort of staring way .. i am new to bkk and it feels a little strange. My good lady says that many thais don't often see farang with coloured girls.

So has anyone else had similar experiences ?

It is envy chum, they are looking at her. Forget it, every day stuff.

I could write something else here but would get into trouble. If the two of you are happy, thats what matters, f...... the rest.....thumbsup.gif

It will continue to happen as you as you and her are together in Thailand

It is a "normal" everyday occurence so just get used to it, nothing to be jealeous or get mad about

1) Couldn't possibly hazard a guess without having access to a photo ..... ;>)

2) Congrats on your engagement

3) isn't it annoying that the "e" and the "w" keys are adjacent on the keyboard, Mr "bigehitewarrior"?!

Everybody stares when my girl and i go out - they are probably thinking i must have a lot of money (and consequently why ain't i in the Benz instead of catching the BTS) to get a girl like i have because it is definitely is not my hansum man appearance. biggrin.png .

bigehitewarrior , Don't worry what the small minded nobodies think , it is only yr girl you need to impress

It's a little strange as I've never been stared at like this before . When we went to her temple opening in her village it was awesome as the people there where different and very friendly to us.

She is not even dark:-) Seriously: don't sweat it. My first wife was Vietnamese and I took her to a small town in East Germany, there people really stared.

I was born in East Germany in luckenwalde. . Lived 27 years in UK and now here .. i do love it here more smile.png

OK. I was in Cottbus for a year but it was not a fun place with an Asian wife......

After seeing this photo, I'm going to say what many people were no doubt thinking but nobody said yet: I'm sure she must have a great personality!

Yes thank you for you're kind words . She has a fantastic personality speaks fluent english too and is teaching me thai..which is however another story lol as i already speak 3 languages fluent i must admit that thai is a little bit more difficult to learn for farang ;)

England is a lot more tolerant than it was 27 years ago. There is still a lot of racial tension in poor areas as you'd expect and it's got issues with multiculturalism which don't seem to be getting better. Racism however is borne out of fear, paranoia misinformation. "Anger is like a hot stone. If you hold onto it you are the only person that gets burnt" :-)
