Malaysia- truly Asia, well that sure got that slogan right!

So now instead of the disparaging slang about lying , " Don't Thai to me", the new phrase will be

" Don't Malay to me"....... In the annals of public relations in the face of a disaster,

Malaysia's handling of this incident will go down in history as what NOT to do.

So just how does one handle a jumbo jet that disappears without a trace? I don't think the Malaysians have too many precedents to follow.

Clearly a bit early to remind where I said, on about day 3, that the plane was in Pakistan, but please read these,

However, I still like to believe the alternate possibility that the plane faced an as yet unknown failure, and

the geek pilot was a well intentioned hero.

Interesting links, thanks.

The failure issue stumps me if it's true that the ground communication devices were all turned off within 12 minutes of each other in the black hole just short of 'Nam.

I keep seeing human intervention.

Pilot suicide is possible but paints no reason to shut off ground communication including the transponder. Someone has to leave the cabin to shut off part of it.

A bomb or fire on the plane doesn't explain it either unless the plane is in the water just short of 'Nam, and that has certainly been searched. It also doesn't explain where they got the 12 minutes.

I don't know what happened, but from day one I've suspected a deliberate, premeditated act.

They tell us they know the plane continued flying "for several hours." If true that rules out a sudden catastrophe. Coupled with the effort to turn off ground communication, I see a planned event. How it ended I don't know.

We just don't know.

MISSING IN ACTION
Missing Malaysian jet a 'top priority' : Obama

WASHINGTON: -- President Obama said Wednesday the hunt for the missing Malaysian airliner is a "top priority," as the FBI joined the investigation into the mystery.

Obama told KDFW-TV of Dallas that the U.S. and Malaysian governments will work closely together to find the plane, which disappeared March 8 while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. All 239 people on board are missing, USA Today reported Wednesday.

"We have put every resource that we have available at the disposal of the search process," Obama said. "There’s been close cooperation with the Malaysian government ... anybody who typically deals with anything related to our aviation system is available."

The president added, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families -- I want them to be assured that we consider this a top priority, and we’re going to keep on working."

He said the NTSB will also be involved in the probe. The FBI is expected to begin analyzing hard drives from computers seized at the pilots’ homes as soon as this week.

A federal law enforcement official said the material, including a flight simulator recovered from one of the pilot’s homes, is likely to be shipped to the FBI’s lab in Quantico, Va. The official is not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation and requested anonymity.

Since the plane’s disappearance, the FBI and Justice Department had offered to assist the Malaysian government but until now had not been formally invited to join the inquiry as is required.

Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that the two governments have been "in ongoing conversations about how we can help."

"We’re working with authorities, but we don’t have any theories (on the cause of the plane’s disappearance)," Holder said Wednesday.

Interesting info:

Gets even more interesting if you go to tomnod.com and "join the search". Hundreds of items found in satellite images, most of them absolutely mundane.

Want to see even more? Look for the .kmz file, open it in Google earth and click away at all the marked stuff.

When the article was first posted it had a large closeup image of a tail section and MAS logo.

That was then changed to a video, again using the same image to start the video, guess they are still editing.

Of course I was being facetious about satellite images of plane parts.

Soory for any difficulty.

From looking at the link, I see a photo of a tail section of a Malaysian Air aircraft, but it doesn't look like it's from a wreck. It looks like a file photo. Even so, I'm hopeful that the Australian authorities have located parts of the wreck. Retrieving the black box will be difficult. When the story first broke, I ventured that it was pilot intentionally ditching the plane, and I suspect my supposition will be borne out. Suicide is sad in itself, but it's so much more dire when the killer takes down hundreds of innocents with him.

Two objects spotted possibly related to missing Malaysian MH370 - Australian PM

Two objects possibly related to the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 have been sighted, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said on Thursday.

Abbott told parliament "new and credible information" had come to light nearly two weeks after the plane vanished.

He said an Australian air force Orion had been diverted to look into the objects. He did not specify where they were but Australia has taken charge of the search in the southern Indian Ocean.

"The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has received information based on satellite information of objects possibly related to the search," Abbott said.

"Following specialist analysis of this satellite imagery, two possible objects related to the search have been identified."

There are many items in an aircraft which can float. Closer inspection of the region (where the 2 objects were sighted) will likely reveal a bunch more items, if it is where the aircraft went down - which now looks likely. There are only a few countries which have submersibles (manned and un-manned) which are capable of going down in such deep water.

Remember when the Russian sub Kirsk went down near the Arctic Circle, off Russian coast? The Russkies, with their mighty naval base nearby, couldn't even get a submersible to the site. It was up to Scandinavians to do it.

I would bet any money you like those objects are not related. they could never have floated that far even over 12 days

According to John Young from AMSA, search aircraft have been directed to locate the 'posssible' objects in an area approximately 2500km south west of Perth.

The objects first indentified in satellite imagery are considered to be credible by AGO but yet to be verified. John Young also says this is the best lead so far (ABCnews24)
