3G Signal Jomtien

Featured Replies

Hi All, Just wondering what the current situation was with 3g in Jomtien. I was planning on using 3g from my phone to tether to my laptop. I will probably be staying at VT1.

Dtac, AIS, True? Who currently offers the best service. I presume they will all be ok in Pattaya on a smart phone etc but i have had problems in the past in Jomtien.

Thanks

Ais and get package for net and calls

Laptop is not good cuz eats data quick from package

I live in jomtien i tested it all

Like 8 sims and back to ais

Ais packahe is called ismart

I use ais 599. 650with vat

Get 300call min and 1.5GB data

If u runs out of data then 150 bath u buy 1GB extra using code

Other networks dont do good packages

I am at Jomtien near the beach. I have AIS GSM 2100 that I use as a backup to my TOT ADSL wifi /router in condo. The GSM is 1/3 slower; 3.2 Mbps vs 10 Mbps on Speedtest download test.

Thats obvious

Compare gsm vs gsm

Ais in some areas in pattaya is qyite fast on speedtest... like 8Mbps+

I have used 3G on my iPhone with a TrueMove-H plan and had good reception in various areas in Jomtien. While I've not been in VT-1 with my phone, I have sat in bars & restaurants in the nearby Jomtien Complex area and used TrueMove-H 3G with good results.

I use Truemove H 3G from Viewtalay 2 which gives good and consistent speed.

Ken.

Dtac used to be good but the last 2 months the speed has been terrible. I could watch videos without any problems before, now it freezes almost evey day.

Thanks very much for all your replys guys.

Some differing opinion on service especially on AIS. I normally use dtac & their smartphone packages look reasonable

but if another provider is substantially better i will use them.

These seem to be the packages available from all networks, Can anyone confirm if you go over your fast 3g limit eg 1gb you still get unlimited data but it drops in speed to around 128 kbps. Also any idea what the truemove wifi is?

dtac http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/pro-smartphone.html

AIS http://www.ais.co.th/gsmadvance/en/smartphone_packages.aspx

My dtac postpaid subscription drops to 384kb when you go over the 3 gb limit, but in Jomtien we have problems with the speed anyway so hardly any difference.

I am by the Police Station and seldom does AIS drop for me. Here is a test this afternoon (it is slower at night):

poice station might be different, try in front of the night market, directly on the beach

Any experiences further out towards Baan Saray please ?
