BANGKOK, March 13 - Thai Airways International (THAI) is certain the company's business will gain profits and projects revenue growth of 3-4 per cent this year.

THAI senior executive vice-president Chokchai Panyayong said, unlike last year where THAI lost Bt12 billion thanks to rising cost burdens, revenue is projected to grow this year, adding his affirmation on the airline's safety standards which is at international level.

Mr Chokchai admitted that the company reduced the number of flights operating in October-January in order to cut costs. He said Chinese passengers counting for 40 per cent of the overall passengers will start to come back to Thailand in Q2 due to the easing political situation.

Meanwhile, THAI this morning celebrated its new aircraft -- Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 777-300ER -- by having a leading Buddhist monk anoint them. The planes can carry passenger loads of 299 and 348 persons respectively.

Both aircraft are to fly regional routes and across continents, bringing THAI's aircraft lineup to 27 Airbus A330-300s, nine Boeing 777-300ERs and six Airbus A380s. (MCOT online news)

The Black spray paint is all FDA approved.

Oh my, here we go again. Every year this is predicted, then when the loss comes out there's always an excuse. How about the facts: too many freebies to "VIP's" and overpriced tickets on aging planes that no one wants to fly on.

There seems to be an unusual amount of Thai Inter planes parked up at Don Mueang Airport.

A 2014 profit for THAI? Sure, and I'm doing Judy Garland impersonations in the midnight show at Nana Plaza

Can someone please bookmark this thread so we can all come back in 10 months time for a good laugh?

Boeing 777?

Isn't one just disappeared into a worm hole? somewhere between Malaysia-Thailand-Vietnam triangle?

Yes,here we go,counting their chickens before they hatch. Obviously he's been to the fortune teller.

Someone has been attending too many TAT launches and pronouncements. blink.png

Change the Livery paint air force colours, novel idea. if it's run by the air force chief, just run the airline for non public.

It's a bit like Qantas saying after all the changes...we'll be ok....

Poor old Thai...gotta get all them old airforce guys and cops out of the teams...bring in some good foreigners..and possibly a chance....but the way international carriers are going.....Thai Airways just ain't looking' good!

One small example - Thai Airways had the monopoly on flights to Khon Kaen - 3 per day when I retired here 4 years ago. Now, they are up to 5 per and have competition - AirAsia now has two flights per day from Bangkok to Khon Kaen. Thai goes to Suvarnabhumi and AirAsia to Don Mueang. Rumor has it that Nok Air will soon be flying Khon Kaen to Phuket - direct. Look out Thai Air - your domestic monopoly is long gone.

I did not know they handed their lame duck over to "Mr. Now everyone can fly" Tony Fernandes.

???? Not a bad idea.
