Mates,

I'm planning a 90 day holiday in Thailand, and therefore consider applying for a tourist visa, which as I understand, would allow me to stay for 60 day + a possible 30 day extension.

Can I take the extension for granted, or is there a reasonable chance I will not granted those extra 30 days?.

I will be applying for an extension at the Jomtien immigration office.

Cheers

There shouldn't be a problem but then again who knows for sure what will happen in 6 months. As far as I know never saw a report here of the extension being denied. Go a week before it expires and apply for the extension, you will not lose any days and that will give you time to make a visa run if it is denied

In any bureaucratic approval process there's always a chance for something to go wrong. But in this case, the statistical probability of a toilet falling out of a building and striking you dead, on the way to immigration, is about the same.

In other words, don't worry about it.
