ubonjoe
If you fly Nok air to Nakhon Phanom they have a shuttle bus to Mukdahan. If you fly to Ubon you can get a taxi or the Ploy Palace bus to Muk. The Lao Visa is US$30 or 1,500 baht. Good place to stay in Muk is the Mukdahan Manor, they will transport you to the bus station to go to Savannakhet. For most people it is $35 dollars. Baht and dollars varies dependent upon which country you are from. To use the fly/ride service on Nok Air you need to buy your ticket to Mukdahan not Nakon Phanom. oldsailor35
Have been getting Non Imm 'O' in Brisbane for years. Does this 'O' from Lao only apply if one has a Thai wife, as i do not. Multiple entry non-o's are only done based upon marriage to a Thai or being the legal parent of a Thai. Well, how is it that i have been getting Multiple Non Imm O visas from Brisbane Consul for several years. I do NOT have a Thai wife ?

You have possibly been getting them based upon being 50 or over. You will not get one for that at any nearby location. I think Australia is the nearest place to get them. You may find that it will be much harder to get the next time you apply and may need to show financial proof.
oldsailor35
Always have to produce financial proof. Recently back from my 6th Non O. On asking i was told there will be no reason for refusing me my next after 15 mths. But of course they can move the goal posts in the meantime. Why do you say it might be much harder next time ? Evilbaz
There are various categories of Non-Immi "O" visas. Brisbane issues a "retirement" category to those over 50 and proving the financial requirements. (it is a good example of Consulates interpreting the "Rules" their way - AFAIK no other OZ Consulate isues this category). This is NOT a Retirement (OA) visa which does not require 90 days exits from the Kingdom.
oldsailor35
mmmmmmmmm! Probably why they fly from all over oz to the Brisbane Consul. He is a very nice and helpful Aussie guy married to a Thai lady. Edited March 24, 2014 by oldsailor35
thailandbeachisland
Savan Vegas no longer offer visa run services. It seems the only offer shuttle bus service from the bus station in Mukdahan. http://www.savanvegas.com/home.html Air Asia also fly into Nakon Phanom but you have to arrange your transportation to the bridge. You could contact the Ploy hotel for info. I think they would also pick you up in Nakon Phanom. I don't know what's wrong with this casino but they don't even offer the shuttle from bus station to the bridge anymore. And with so many reports that the rooms are old and stinky I prefer to visit another place closer to consulate !
