In addition to the monk and any other possible witnesses, this should be fairly easy to solve. Accident?

He had fallen onto some flower pots but later the gun "accidentally" discharged. Was he still on the ground? If so the bullet would have an acute upward angle into the head. This is a very difficult shot to make.

Was he back on his feet and aimed the gun at her? If so, the trajectory would come from his eye level.

Was he holding the gun low and it accidentally discharged? If so the trajectory would be upward but the angle less acute than if he was on the ground. This is a very difficult shot to make deliberately.

Very few perps deliberately take a head shot because the target is small. They shoot at "center of mass" which is the torso which has many vital organs and blood vessels, and is much larger and easier to hit. Even police are trained to put two or three bullets there.

Eye witness accounts and an autopsy showing the trajectory in the skull will either show he told the truth or will contradict what he said.

Did he have a license for the gun?

Nonetheless, Thais are murderous, no doubt.

This incident typifies that some gullible folk in the population tend to follow the moral standings of the people in power. When people in power denounce the rule of law and decide that they will only respect it when it suits them then some of the populous will follow suit. The govt set the example…The people follow.

Contempt breed contempt. Crime breeds crime. If the govt can announce to the nation that they won't respect the rule of law then the tentacles of cancerous impunity will reach far and wide.

Well done djjamie, you've excelled yourself. Even by your increasingly shrill postings this one is a doosie. Two people fighting over providing monk food and you manage to blame it on the government.

This years "Tenuous Link of the Year" Award has an early contender for first place.

Havn't you guys figured this out yet, djjamie is nothing more than a troll, so more like troll award for the year! Poor lady may she rest in peace!

Ms. Boonchoo and Mr. Warawut have previously pressed charges to the police, accusing each other of intimidating their opponent with firearms.

And the police ignored it as usual.

Nothing to do with us, let them play with guns.

They even arrived at the scene after the woman was taken to hospital.

Now they are investigating......what?

A bunch of w&&&&rs.

Unfortunately, there isn't much the police can do when 2 adults engage in a feud like this. Responsibility to behave in a civil manner lies with the adults.

There are too many guns in the hands of unstable people in Thailand, and it's a much bigger issue then the presumed failings of the police.

There's a reason why there are so many deaths by guns in Thailand and it has to do with the relative ease in which Thais can purchase and carry such weapons.

Starting to wonder how many brainless westerners that are roaming around on TV forum when they immediatley accuse the government for this incident. Or... is it as another poster suggested before that they are actually Thais pretending to be westerners.

Desperation ring true to these nimcompoops.

The pair sold their products close to each other and their proximity often led to arguments and confrontation, Pol.Col. Pongsakorn said, adding that Ms. Boonchoo and Mr. Warawut have previously pressed charges to the police, accusing each other of intimidating their opponent with firearms.

Really GK, there isnt much the police could have done? With the history between these two people I think the police could have and should have done something after the first reported incident.

Yesterday's news: 1 Killed In Fight Between Rival Monk Food Sellers

Today's news: Turkish Ice Cream Parlor Battle in South Pattaya

Now we are even down to the point when farrangs make lousy copies of Thai style. Well, Anatolia is kinda 'wild west' too.

Cant blame on government. government is but a reflection of much of society and vice a versa. seems a small minority of society posses emotional and intellectual maturity/ integrity.

And the monk was standing almlessly by watching this street theatre right outside a bank..

Do you expect a monk to get involved in a potential gunfight, and what has the proximity of a bank got to do with anything?

On the subject of "w????rs", it is said that it takes one to know one.

Are the police expected to arrive before the incident happens or is the shooting victim expected to be kept bleeding on the ground until the police arrive? They will be investigating what actually happened as opposed to listening to hearsay

"Why do the police take so long to show up."

How long did it take them? How long do you think it takes for a seriously injured person to be put in a vehicle and taken to hospital? Seconds, maybe?

I believe monks are not allowed to testify in court. Not having a license would be a minor offense, however monetary recompense to her family would be a major event for him regardless of his punishment by law.

Try the UK,it would take hours for the ambulance to arrive. As long as a gun is involved the police in the UK would be quite quick otherwise they wouldn't bother, you would get a "crime number" for the insurance.
